Bio

Jeremy Vancaulart is a self-taught, independent musician. He’s been creating music since he was young, listening to bands such as Nine Inch Nails, The Crystal Method, The Prodigy, and Massive Attack. Jeremy’s passion led him through high school – he played in various rock, and industrial, bands as a singer, but always knew in the back of his mind that he had yet to find a genre that really tapped into his talent.

In his late teens, Jeremy discovered electronic music. He started producing his own music, realizing that he had a knack for evoking incredible emotion with a computer. As the genre gained momentum in the mainstream world, Jeremy continued producing and gaining confidence making electronic music. The response he received from friends and fans was increasingly positive – Jeremy found his calling.

His friend was tragically murdered on October 18 2004. This drove Jeremy to produce his first independent CD. Even though the CD was amateur he realized the true power and impact of music. Producing music became a therapeutic process for him as well as his listeners. His alternative industrial act was featured in the local news, received radio play in Japan, and was sold locally. The following singles Jeremy produced were sold digitally around the globe.

Although Jeremy had achieved small success in the local music industry, it was still not enough to keep him financially stable. He attended Sheridan College for media, film, and television. He graduated with honours majoring in post-production sound editing and mixing. Jeremy tried to pursue a career working on feature films and television shows, all the while knowing it was not where is heart was.

Jeremy has done all he can do to continue making music while paying the bills – he was paid to drive a truck picking up donations for the Canadian Diabetes Association, and got a part-time job working as an AV technician in Toronto. Still, this was not enough.

With an entrepreneurial spirit, Jeremy has chosen a new path. He has created a digital independent record label, Black Sunset Music, and needs financial support through the startup phase. His undeniable love and passion for developing musicians coupled with his essential need to produce his own music led him to Black Sunset Music.
