Biography

Jeremy Walsh joined the seminal Canadian celtic band Scruj Macduhk in 1998 and for over two years contributed his powerful, expressive vocals and multi-instrumentalist talents to the bands energetic shows. These included performances at The Edmonton Folk Festival, La Festivale Internationale de Louisianne and an opening spot for Great Big Sea at The Pan American Games in Winnipeg in front of a crowd of 40,000.

During his tenure with Macduhk, Walsh began to establish himself as a skilled writer of original material and was recognized by Winnipeg Folk Festival founder and folk music impresario/historian Mitch Podolak as "one of the finest Canadian folk singer/songwriters of his generation". Two of Walsh's songs appeared on Macduhk's Juno Award nominated album 'Road to Canso', which won Best Roots Album and Best Independent Album at the Canadian Prairie Music Awards in 2000.

After leaving Macduhk, Walsh has performed throughout North America playing in dozens of venues working both as solo performer and leader of the eclectic Celtic/Folk-Fusion/World Beat unit, "The Jeremy Walsh Band".

In 2002, Walsh released 'Jeremy Walsh, Self-Titled Debut', a collection of traditional and self-penned material co-produced by Hugh McMillan from Spirit of the West.

His newest Cd, scheduled for a summer release comprises all original material and was co-produced by Mick Glossop{ Van Morrison, Frank Zappa, The Waterboys} and Joby Baker{ The Bills, Mae Moore and The Marc Atkinson Trio}. It also features guest appearances from musicians such as Trish Klein{ Be Good Tanyas, Po Girl}, Jeremy Fisher and Rick May.

New Song

Written By: Jeremy Walsh

New song new day
New vision new way
New place new feel
New happenin' what is real
New smiles new looks
New whole new love
New heart new song
New start

New love new song
New feeling in the air
And a dream for which we long
New voice new fears
New circles new peers
New sadness new joy
New woman new boy
New secrets new face
New problems new space

There is a place where I can go and be free
There are eyes watching
That can see the real me
No need to feel fear
All alone here in this light
This music I'm singing
Feels like love tonight
This music I'm singing
Feels like love tonight

The Bicycle Song

Written By: Jeremy Walsh

The Bicycle Song
Verse 1
I've got the car and I got the bicycle too
And I've got guitars and a new pair of running shoes
And all these things that I collect to help me be free
Don't work a damn
Chorus 1
If I don't let love live in me
If I don't let love live in me
Verse 2
Now there's a place where I can go and I shine bright
There's a girl that I can stay with tonight
There's reefer too to fill the void but for a while
All just distractions
Chorus 2
If I don't let love live inside
If I don't let love live inside
Bridge 1
Hold on hold on you're hiding behind your fears
Hold on hold on bring your love back here
Verse 3
I've got the past and I know that you do too
But what's the point in waiting there with you?
You're not here though you left a lining in the clouds
I'm the only one
Chorus 3
Oh to let my love love come out
Yes to let my love love come out
Solo
Bridge 2
Hold on hold on you're hiding behind your fears
Hold on hold on bring your love back here
Final verse
I've got the car and I've got the bicycle too
And I've got guitars and a new pair of running shoes
And all these things that I collect to help me be free
Don't work a damn
Final Chorus
If I don't let love live in me
If I don't let love live in me
If I don't let love live in me...

Chorus
When you're on the road and always on the move
And the tracks roll by grain elevators
And the highway travels on
Where the fields lay rest the sun
And my family sleeps as we go rolling by
And my family sleeps as we go rolling by
Verse
Good news may come like the warm rich tones of an old guitar
Bad news may break like the evening clouded painted prairie sky
Chorus 2
When you're on the road and always on the move
And the tracks roll by grain elevators
And the highway travels on
Where the fields lay rest the sun
And my family sleeps as we go rolling by
And my family sleeps as we go rolling by
Bridge
We traveling peoples be it's a strange life that we've chosen
As every traveling man or woman knows
Be it sea or the sky or through the mountains
And we're looking for the loving faces that we know
Chorus 3
When you're on the road and always on the move
And the tracks roll by grain elevators
And the highway travels on
Where the fields lay rest the sun
And my family sleeps as we go rolling by
And my family sleeps as we go rolling by
Melodic break
Last Chorus
When you're on the road and always on the move
And the tracks roll by grain elevators
And the highway travels on
Where the fields lay rest the sun
And my family sleeps as we go rolling by
And my family sleeps as we go rolling by
