Bio

Looking at Jeries Alfreih, (Jur E CE Al-Fray) a rising
guitar virtuoso from Phoenix, Arizona, there isn’t much
about him that screams ‘guitar god.’ He’s not tall and
lanky and he’s not a boozer or on drugs. He doesn’t
have long wavy hair or tattoos, and he doesn’t wear
skin-tight leather pants or MTV-approved clothing from
the Eighties. While he doesn’t fit the image, that is
perhaps one of his strongest assets.

Jeries– flies under that first impression radar until first
impression gives way to guitar cable meeting amp, and
Jeries’ fingers meeting fretboard, and when that
happens, you will find a complex, unpredictable, &
multifaceted gifted guitar prodigy who rightfully carries
on the legacies of guitar legends like Vai, Satriani,
Hammett, Rhoads, Wylde, Iommi and Van Halen.
Born and raised in Phoenix, Jeries first studied classical piano at the age
of 4. His first music obsessions centered on rap and hip hop, but he soon
fell in love with the rock music of Green Day, Nirvana, Metallica, Queen,
Eric Clapton and Jimi Hendrix. Playing his favorite rock songs he’d
learned on piano wasn’t enough – At the age of 13 Jeries got his first
guitar for Christmas, and taught himself to play with a single issue of
Guitar One magazine. “I wanted to learn so bad I taught myself how to
play guitar before I ever touched one,” Jeries says. In high school Jeries
was dedicated to his craft, and honed his musical talent by studying jazz
guitar, trumpet, orchestration, conducting and music theory, and picked
up every orchestral instrument he could get his hands on in Paradise
Valley High School’s band room.
Jeries did the typical teenage guitarist route of playing in school band and joining or forming a handful of local
bands (all of which garnered local radio play and performed in area clubs) yet it would be a musical
encounter shortly after the break-up of his band The End (yes, ironic name) that he would experience a
seminal, life-changing performance with one of this era’s iconic tall, lanky, long-haired leather-pants-wearing
Guitar Gods in the form of… Steve Vai.

At the age of 21, Jeries was invited to audition for Steve Vai for his upcoming 2007 Sound Theories world
tour, on guitar and keyboards. “I had no idea what to expect,” Jeries says “I thought it was going to be like
American Idol, with judges at a desk with clipboards.” What Jeries experienced was an extended jam session
with the Guitar God, going back and forth between keyboard and guitar and trading licks and solos. “There is
nothing scarier than soloing and in front of you is Steve Vai playing rhythm guitar, on one of his songs. It was
incredible.”

In 2008, Jeries was selected out of hundreds of guitarists to perform live with Weezer at Veterans Memorial
Coliseum, and named Guitarist of the Year at the Phoenix Music Awards, and received two more nominations
with halfMute: Hard Rock Band of the Year and Performer of the Year.

Since then, Jeries recorded and performed with halfMute, and played on countless other recordings, most
recently Riverside, California’s pop-punk trio, Eleven Fifty Seven. He has performed the National Anthem at
Chase Field and the US Airways Center. Jeries has studied privately with Uli Jon Roth (Scorpions) and Derek
Sherinian (of Dream Theater, Billy Idol, Kiss and Alice Cooper fame).

The young guitarist who is currently flying solo is featured on Versailles Record’s upcoming All Star Tribute to
AC/DC to be released Fall of 2010, and is working on new material to be released later this year.

Whatever Jeries Alfreih does musically – whether it’s rocking out with guitar gods and alternative rock
superstars, his studio guitar wizardry or blowing stage presence – Jeries truly brings so much to the music he
creates and sets the bar high for the next generations of guitarists.

Jeries proudly endorses DiMarzio, In Tune Guitar Picks, N-Tune Guitar Tuners, Art & Lutherie (by Godin)
Acoustic Guitars, and the Fernandes Sustainer System.

“Jeries’ guitar work is awesome! I found his playing to be
very proficient as well as tasty and well crafted.”

“Jeries Alfreih represents the next
generation of 21st century guitarists. His
classical training and fearless stage
presence give him an edge over other
guitarists in his age group. In an era where
so many take the path of least resistance
with their instruments, Jeries’ riffs and
scales like an older master.”
