"Performer Magazine"

Rand is a creative genius at work, solely enamored in his art. Give credit to Rand for successfully putting together this CD completed under his own power. Rand is responsible for everything on Time, every little track of instrumentation, from the guitars, to bass, keyboards, piano, drums, and percussion. The sound is impressively rich and spacious throughout, a record that immerses itself in the waters of evident command in production technique in the studio. And his voice has a resonating quality that has the ability to captivate the listener. His use of structure in composing his songs is highly sophisticated, occasionally throwing in minor keys and modal ideas. Highly melodic and rich in musical detail, Rand has proven to have put much thought in what turns out to be a highly introspective recording. With an alluring voice and dexterity through instrumentation, perhaps his only weakness fully expressed on this record is his poetic side, only challenging themes of relationships and religion. Yet even though his lyrics are vague at times, Time comes across as something special, a record that illustrates well how far a musician/artist can go with belief and an extremely hard work ethic. One can find strengths in harmony lead guitars on track one, "Slow Burn," and the dreamy, ethereal elements in "Bad Days" leaves you drooling for more. "World Circus" brings out a touchy subject, pondering on the chaos in society and today's world. "The Star" is very magical and full of supernatural grace, truly a soul-stirring track with a message to change one's stance or emotions on a particular topic. In the end a stellar record must carry out an immediacy that extends to the listener, and the material must have a strong emotional pull. For the most part, Jermaine Rand has excelled at both facets, and with a bright future, should be expected to reach a new level in musical quality with future recordings.

"Rand Spotlight in Creative Loafing"

"Ranging from raucous to reflective, guitarist/songwriter RAND has a style that could be described as heavy soul. RAND's work with acts as disparate Dionne Farris and Public Enemy (Confrontation Camp) comes through on his self-titled solo debut."

Bio

His grandfather a first generation Rock n' Roll guitarist and vocalist and mother a prominent gospel singer, Rand was a true musical devotee spending most of his youth performing in every available outlet of his Raleigh, NC hometown.

After receiving a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of North Carolina - Charlotte, Rand relocated to Atlanta GA.  He made the rounds as a session musician and sideman recording and performing throughout the U.S. with an eclectic mix of artists such as Fergie (Interscope), The Black Eyed Peas (Interscope), Dionne Farris (Columbia Records), Van Hunt (Capitol Records), Public Enemy (Def Jam), Joi (Universal Recording Group) India Arie (Motown), Victor Wooten, Mother's Finest and Cee-Lo Green (Arista/Gnarles Barkley) before branching out on his own.

Rand is a devout supporter of music education. In addition to providing private music instruction to players of all ages, Rand has taught literally hundreds of students in both public school as well as teaching audio engineering at an Atlanta Metro area technical institute. His proudest moment as an educator was his tenure directing and instructing "at risk" students in a music program for the Salvation Army Boys and Girls club sponsored by Fender guitars and guitarist Bonnie Raitt. Rand has also performed interactive instructional performances for the Songs for Kids Foundation and the NC 4-H Camp program.

Hailed as a "creative genius" (Performer Magazine) and recently featured in Guitar Player Magazine, Jermaine Rand's latest CD "Time" on which he is the sole performer, writer and producer is a captivating blend of Soulful Rock. Rand continues to garner critical acclaim in both local and international publications and also received considerable airplay in markets such as Washington, DC, Florida, Atlanta, Indiana and Massachusetts.

Rand is currently composing commercial music for The Park Group on behalf of Pocket Change LLC based out of Richmond, VA. He has worked on commercials for Cato Clothing, Yuengling, Michele Obama's "Let's Move", nTelos Wireless, CAMC Hospital and many more.
