"Instructions for Deconstruction"

Jerome Madigan has been making music since his early teen years, as a freshmen in high school his youth pastor seen his potential and invited him to join a Christian rock band called “Echoplex”. From then on he has been making music, playing venues in America and abroad on mission trips. In 1995 he joined the Christian Ska band “Nifty Tom 50” and their songs were featured on many Christian radio stations in the U.S.

Instructions for deconstruction is first full length album, he released an EP in 2006 entitled “Waiting in Line”. Jerome was able to debut this new solo CD when he opened for Lincoln Brewster in May 2008. This project has already received airplay on several radio stations and internet broadcasts.

The opening song “King of Glory” has a rock sound to it, very much a worship song though. It speaks of how worthy God is of worship and sings hallelujah to the Lord. “No One Higher” has a more melodic sound, talking about Jesus is the Lord and there is No One Higher! “Immerse” is a beautiful worship song of the Father leading us to a place of knowing Him more by prayer and waiting on Him to answer.

This project defiantly shows Jerome Madigan’s heart for worship, his passion for God, and the desire to share that with the world! I wouldn’t be surprised if you start to hear these wonderful songs in your worship services real soon! Go out and pick up this one as soon as possible! Anyone who loves to hear worship music, or loves to sing praises to God will love this one!!!

"Christian Rockers Online"

Jerome Madigan grew up in a musical family and started to sing and play guitar at the age of 13. He also has been involved with several different Christian bands ( Echoplex, Nifty Tom 50) over the years. He put out his first solo EP, Waiting in Line in 2006. Now this worship pastor is back with his first worship album, Instructions for Deconstruction.

Madigan had the chance to debut Instructions for Deconstruction earlier this year when he was the opening act for a Lincoln Brewster performance.

This album is filled with eleven tracks, although only ten of them are listed on the CD’s track list. I guess that track-11, “Beautiful” is more of a bonus track.

Madigan wrote all of the songs found on this release so you get a good feel for where his heart is in service to the Lord. He writes lyrics, that while filled with hope, are not just a bunch of fluff. He doesn’t write songs only about the good times, he also relates the fact that sometimes we can go through some pretty deep valleys in our walk with the Lord.

What you’ll find in the songs found on Instructions for Deconstruction are lyrics that are raw with passion sung by Madigan. You also find a mixture of more melodic modern worship songs along with all out rocking ones.

The album kicks-off with one of those rocking track, “King of Glory.” This upbeat worship rocker is filled with shouts of hallelujah to a glorious God.

Some other tracks that caught my ear were, “No One Higher” a song that offers up an interesting beat and catchy melody that sings praise to Jesus Christ. “The Sounds of Freedom,” talks about being a beacon of light set against a light rock modern worship beat. I also liked the last track, “Beautiful” an acoustic guitar ballad that’s filled with lyrics of hope for the lost and backslidden.

Instructions for Deconstruction is a very well done, tight sounding, release that works so well on many different levels. - CJ Ross

"Indie Vision Music"

A few years ago a funny thing happened: ska died. I know, I know, some of you loved ska, its okay for you to be wrong, that really isn’t what I’m getting at here. When ska disappeared from the scene, ska band members still had their instruments and still wanted to make music that people appreciated. Some went on to other ventures, like how some OC Supertones went onto help form Demon Hunter, Five Iron Frenzy’s end led to Brave Saint Saturn and now apparently the former vocalist for indie ska band Nifty Tom Fifty has gone up to Nor Cal, become a worship pastor and come out with an appetizing worship album.

Jerome Madigan’s solo offering has a nice blend of songs that I’m vaguely familiar with and stuff that is in the very least new to me. To tell you the truth, most of the worship songs I hear are what I hear at church as I easily get bored with the contemporary style that most worship albums are laced with. I think a lot of us around here have that problem, that is why we are here at IVM, because we want a little more creativity (or just more rockin’) in our worship. Madigan isn’t really offering anything that out of the box, but it is clean, mostly at a fast enough tempo to stay awake for and comforting music that can get our minds on the Lord. I know I personally need more of this music in my life, stuff that is straight to the point of worshipping Christ and if you are like me and need a bit more and want to support an indie artist then this isn’t a bad pickup. - Tyler Hess

Bio

Jerome has always had a passion for songwriting and recording music. He got his first 4-track tape recorded at the age of 13 and has been sharing his music with the world ever since. The other side to Jerome is his life-long call to ministry. Even before his teen years, Jerome felt that God was asking him to be a pastor. However, it wasn't clear what kind of pastor.

After serving Sequoia Christian Church in CA as youth and worship pastor for 4 years, God opened the door for him to be a full time worship pastor at Central Peninsula Church. Through this time, he's grown a heart for the misunderstood, and many times forgotten, members of the artist community. He knows the struggles that come with being a songwriter, performer or creative type of any kind. As such, Jerome's desire is to walk alongside as many people in this community as possible. He feels that his music can serve the Kingdom of God in several ways: it can help edify or strengthen the church, it can help inspire other followers of Christ who have creative gifts to pursue their passion and it can point people to Jesus Christ, the only true hope for us all.
