REVIEW

Artist: Jerri Little
Album title: Help Somebody Today - Live
Rating: 4 Stars
Your name: Pat Ratliff www.yoraps.com

Description:
Through a lifetime of singing with her local church choirs, singer/songwriter Jerri Little has honed her craft of singing the words of God. With Soul. The debut album from Jerri Little, Help Somebody Today – Live, is a great collection of gospel music with a side of funky soul. It’s hard to pin a genre on this album because she crosses so many lines, successfully. She’ll soothe you with her beautiful voice on one song, and have your body moving around the room on the next. Jerri Little has something special with this album.
Aided by an excellent band and great backup vocals, Jerri Little holds it down on her debut album. Not only is Jerri a skilled singer, she also has the charisma to back it up on stage. She has the ability to serenade the listener with her beautiful voice alone, like on the track, “I Must Tell Jesus,” and she can also make you dance with a track such as, “In The Nick Of Time,” which has radio play written all over it. Her ability to shake things up from track to track while still maintaining her individual style is one of the things that make Jerri Little a unique musical talent. Throughout the album I was feeling the gospel soul, and you can even smell a little jazz coming through your speakers. I thought I had heard it all until I made it to the final track, “Wonderful, Mighty God,” where I couldn’t help but hear what sounded like Jamaican steel drums in the background. Jerri Little separates herself from the field with her ability to spread her work across the music spectrum, while still maintaining her musical theme, God.
Jerri Little certainly has a good one with Help Somebody Today – Live. Jerri has the valuable combination of a stunning voice and unquestioned charisma. With that combination and the quality creative support around her, Jerri can take her music as far as she wants to. She sings with heart and soul, and she brings the truth about what she believes in. Couple that with her ability to sing unique jazzy soul gospel and you’ve got something special.
