"Show Review"

Jerry, just wanted to say thanks for making our first Winter Blues concert a success. Your set really added something special to the evening, as it provided the audience a look at where our beloved blues has come from. I received many great comments about your music, and your slide skills in particular.

I hope to have you play again, and have enclosed future dates for you to select fom.

Thanks again,

Sean. - Sean Thornton, The Basement

"Cleveland Blues Review"

Review: Jerry Craft
Style: Acoustic slide blues
Venue: House of Swing, Cleveland, OH
Date: December 23, 2005

I have seen many players of the old delta blues style, but Jerry Craft put on a one-man show like none I have ever seen. To begin with, he is a very large man, standing well over six feet tall, and when he walked out on stage, his presence instantly grabbed the audience's attention. He wore simple overalls, and a humble attitude to complete an original look.

However, when Jerry started playing his first tune, "Death Letter Blues" by Son House, the humbleness quickly vanished. His foot pounded the stage like a hammer, providing a solid rhythm to his outstanding slide playing. Jerry's voice was very reminiscent of early blues players, including the author of the song he was belting out.

The audience and I were treated to an hour of Jerry's powerful set list, which contained some well-written original songs by Jerry also. Talking with Jerry after the show, I was struck by the irony of this huge man who had just torn into the House of Swing audience, and yet was as gentle and kind as any artist I have ever met.

Jerry is beginning to play throughout the states, and if you get a chance to see him perform, I highly recommend doing so. For fans of acoustic blues, Jerry is sure to please.

Bio

Born to a Chinook Indian mother who abandoned him when he was two days old and a father who died before Jerry was born, the blues is something Jerry Craft has lived his entire life. Growing up on a farm in the Pacific Northwest, Jerry discovered a way to manifest his deep hurt through a form of music over 80 years old and 2500 miles away. Hearing Son House play Death Letter Blues changed Jerry's life forever and called him to help carry on this precious art form. Playing for fans of delta blues is the greatest joy to Jerry, as the music transcends human emotion like it did at its birth. Listening to Jerry play, audiences are given just a glimpse into the history of delta blues, and where it is headed in this new century.
