Biography

Singer/Songwriter Jerry K. Green is a Native Texan, born in Dallas and raised in the near-Dallas then-small-town of Lewisville, who now resides in the near-Nashville small city of Hendersonville, and is available for appearances anywhere in the USA and other English speaking countries.

Green has retired from his "last day job” and now devotes full-time to his renewed Singer/Songwriter activities. He has a new batch of songs and “Has Guitar, Will Travel. “

His professional credits include many appearances on the Grand Ole Opry and Louisiana Hayride, Billboard chart records, Hotel Lounge and Night Club engagements in Texas - as a single act and with his dance band - and an Acting role in the Warner Bros. film Outlaw Blues with Peter Fonda and Susan Saint James.

In his “first go at it” Green's songs were recorded by artists on Columbia, Capitol, United Artists, and several independent labels in Nashville and Texas, but it was Green's own recording of his true-story song Tripod The Three Legged Dog that introduced him to the Nashville music community in memorable fashion when Tripod dropped a "bomb" on the brand new baby blue carpet in the private office of a major label executive. Jerry did NOT get on that label.

As a youngster, Green won talent contests on the Big D Jamboree in Dallas and at the Texas State Convention of the Future Farmers of America, then performed at the FFA national convention and subsequently was a Special Services entertainer in the Army.

Green’s song “Ernest, Eddy, and Hank” illustrates his early musical influences.

He can be reached via Email at jerrykgreen@earthlink.net, by cell phone at 615-479-2114, and by snail mail at 115 Dorris Drive, Hendersonville TN 37075-3106.

Green is a former Air Personality with a Radio/TV Bachelors Degree from The University of Texas, whose "day-job" credits include The Host of Shamu Stadium at Sea World of Texas' Killer Whale Show during the theme park's debut season; Program/Music Director and/or DJ at Radio Stations WENO, Nashville; KVET, Austin; KOKE, Austin; and KFPW in Ft. Smith, Arkansas; as well as TV stints as News Anchor, Sports Director, Weathercaster and Commercial Announcer, at WSM-TV, Nashville; KTBC-TV, Austin; KTAL-TV, Shreveport, and KLBK-TV, Lubbock.

She Don't Get Mad She Just Gets Even

Written By: Jerry K Green

I can't believe that she is leavin'
I thought she really was believin'
Now I guess we're "even steven"
She Don't Get Mad She Just Gets Even
When I called her up at eight
To tell her I was working late
She said that would be all right
She had plans herself that night
When I came in after four (a.m.)She was waiting at the door
When I meekly stepped inside
She walked right out and waved good bye
I can't believe that she is leavin'
I thought she really was believin'
Now I guess we're "even steven"
She Don't Get Mad She Just Gets Even
She knew I loved my old guitar
She knew I loved my car
Had that guitar since '92
But the car was almost new
When she saw me out with Sue
I should have known what she would do
When I came in just after five (a.m.)
She and the car were in the drive(Going back and forth across my guitar)

I can't believe that she is leavin'
I thought she really was believin'
Now I guess we're "even steven"
She Don't Get Mad She Just Gets Even
When I went down to the bank
They said you've got your wife to thank
She just closed out your joint account
To save you another trip downtown
(Ain't she sweet, Bless her heart,)

I can't believe that she is leavin'
I thought she really was believin'
Now I guess we're "even steven"
She Don't Get Mad She Just Gets Even
Yeah I guess we're "even steven"
She Don't Get Mad She Just Gets Even (Does she EVER!)

Blue Ribbon Blues

Written By: Jerry K Green/G.D. Tubb

Tonight I'll be a champion, the bluest of the blue
Thanks to you, I've got the Blue Ribbon Blues
Yesterday I saw you with someone new
The happiness on your face told me we’re through
At least I'm consistent, I always lose
The only thing I’ve ever won was the blues
But tonight I'll be a champion, the bluest of the blue
Thanks to you, I've got the Blue Ribbon Blues
Last night I took the prize for crying so long
I bet I broke every record that's ever been known
When they name Who's Who In Blues I know who they'll choose
I'm sure I've got the Blue Ribbon Blues
Yes, tonight I'll be a champion, the bluest of the blue
Thanks to you, I've got the Blue Ribbon Blues
I lost you, but won the Blue Ribbon Blues

Tripod The Three Legged Dog

Written By: Jerry K Green

If you think you’ve got troubles you can’t overcome
Don’t sit like a bump on a log
You could do twice as much is you’d try half as hard
As Tripod The Three Legged Dog
My little dog has only three legs
But he never whimpers and he never begs
He doesn’t know he’s crippled you see
From his point of view he’s got more legs than me
If you think you’ve got troubles you can’t overcome
Don’t sit like a bump on a log
You could do twice as much is you’d try half as hard
As Tripod The Three Legged Dog
Out in the yard there stands an old tree
It grows at a slant of some sixty degrees
Tripod backs up and builds up his speed
Then runs up the trunk like a coon that’s been treed
He jumps to the ground and circles the yard
Pacing the fence like a soldier on guard
When he sees the postman walk up with the mail
He growls like a tiger but waggles his tail
If you think you’ve got troubles you can’t overcome
Don’t sit like a bump on a log
You could do twice as much is you’d try half as hard
As Tripod The Three Legged Dog

You ought to see that dog when he runs
He looks like a bullet just fired from a gun
Three little feet go spinning like wheels
And wherever I go he is right at my heels
If you think you’ve got troubles you can’t overcome
Don’t sit like a bump on a log
You could do twice as much is you’d try half as hard
As Tripod The Three Legged Dog

How Sweet It Is

Written By: Jerry K Green

When you wrap your arms around me and press your lips to mine
How Sweet It Is, How Sweet It Is
When you give your loving to me and tell me you need mine
How Sweet It Is, How Sweet It Is

How Sweet It Is to have a woman like you
To stand by me whatever we go through
How sweet it is to have a woman like you
To share my dreams and help me make them come true

When you tell me that you love me and always will be mine
How Sweet It Is, How Sweet It Is

TURNAROUND

I Know The Feeling

Written By: Jerry K Green

I Know The Feeling good love can bring
I know how bad love can hurt
Good love is all that a man really needs
Without it he’s nothing but dirt
I Know The Feeling of falling in love
Then finding that it’s just a one way street
It feels so good to say our love’s not that way
I love you, (and) I know you love me
Bomp Bomp Buh Bomp Bomp, Bomp Bomp Buh Bomp
Bomp Bomp Buh Bomp Bomp, Bomp Bomp
Bomp Bomp Buh Bomp Bomp, Bomp Bomp Buh Bomp
Bomp Bomp Buh Bomp Bomp, Bomp Bomp
I Know The Feeling of wanting someone
Knowing it never will be
There’s nothing quite as bad, nothing quite as sad
As knowing that feeling of defeat
Now I Know The Feeling of falling in love
And finding out that love can be so sweet
There’s nothing quite as good, nothing ever could
Be as good as the love you give to me
I Know The Feeling good love can bring
I know how bad love can hurt
Good love is all that a man really needs
Without it he’s nothing but dirt
Bomp Bomp Buh Bomp Bomp, Bomp Bomp Buh Bomp
Bomp Bomp Buh Bomp Bomp, Bomp Bomp
Bomp Bomp Buh Bomp Bomp, Bomp Bomp Buh Bomp
Bomp Bomp Buh Bomp Bomp, Bomp Bomp

Don't Say You Love Me Then Leave Me

Written By: Jerry K Green

Don't Say You Love Me Then Leave Me and say the same to somebody else
If your heart can't be true, then just keep all your love to yourself
Don't Say You Love Me Then Leave Me broken-hearted, singing the blues
If there is another, Sweetheart, now's the time you must choose
If you want me just say so but Darlin’ be sure, you know a broken heart isn't easy to cure
Don't Say You Love Me Then Leave Me to live my life in misery
If I can't have you always, I don't want a sad memory
Don't Say You Love Me Then Leave Me and give your love to somebody new
If I give you my heart you must promise to always be true
Don't Say You Love Me Then Leave Me to wonder if you really are mine
I don't want to be left to wither and die on the vine
If you want me just say so but Darlin’ be sure, you know a broken heart isn't easy to cure
Don't Say You Love Me Then Leave Me to live my life in misery
If I can't have you always, I don't want a sad memory
If I can't have you always I don't want a sad memory

To Please A Pretty Woman

Written By: Jerry K Green

He started out to be a famous singer
Even learned to play guitar himself
He was on his way to fame and fortune
But now that ole guitar is on the shelf
He gave it up To Please A Pretty Woman
She said he had to find a better life
Now he sits at home each night and wonders
Why a man believes he needs a wife
He loved that woman like he loved good music
To give up either one was hard to do
It broke his heart the day that he discovered
She couldn’t love him and his music too
He gave it up To Please A Pretty Woman
She said he had to be at home at night
Now he sits and looks at television
Watching other people live their lives
It’s been a dozen years since his decision
To give it up and live the normal way
Yet he can’t help but wonder where he’d be now
If he’d chosen music over her that day
He gave it up To Please A Pretty Woman
He thought he had to have her love or die
But if he had a chance to do it over
That ole boy would...Well, I’ll tell you...
That ole boy would...Listen close now...
That ole boy would still give love a try.

Look At That Girl

Written By: Jerry K Green/G.D. Tubb

Look At That Girl, foolish heart,, that one, standing right there.
Look at those eyes, that soft, shining hair.
Look at her lips, they're as sweet as can be.
Look at her smile...why, she's smiling at me.
She used to be mine... till I taught her to cry.
Is she thinking of giving our love one more try?

She's coming this way with love in her eyes.
But it's not for me, she walked right on by...
Into the arms of my best friend
Look At That Girl, foolish heart, you won't see her again.
(TURNAROUND)
She used to be mine... till I taught her to cry.
Is she thinking of giving our love one more try?

She's coming this way with love in her eyes.
But it's not for me, she walked right on by...
