Born on a farm in North West County Mayo Ireland. Two hundred yards from the mighty Atlantic.
Next solid dry ground, New York City.

At the tender age of six my parents would hoist me up on the kitchen table or on the bar at one of the local pubs in town.
This, was my first stage. from this I learned to sing and entertain audiences.

The music of course was traditional Irish. Taught to me by my semi famous singer/accordion player father, Fred McLean.
There was little influence from the outside world in those days. The more remote regions of Ireland like the NW coastal area of Mayo remained somewhat isolated, music and ways of life were almost unchanged.

I have traveled and played my music in many Countries since then. Played in many bands with vast variety of styles from Rock, Country Rock, Jazz, Folk music and of course my Irish Music.
With almost every encounter with a good band or good musician, you will always learn, walk away a better musician than when you met, and hopefully, always with a handshake.
