Bio

We are a Philly area band that plays original and traditional high energy bluegrass and americana music. Our style is informed by our love of old time, folk, rock, blues, traditional country, jamgrass and all manner of roots music.  We love to play and jam!

Band members are JC Bell on mandolin, Steve Gallatig on guitar and vocals, Harry Gambrill on banjo and vocals, Larry Maltz on Dobro, and Mike McLane on upright bass and vocals.

After forming in early 2011, we began playing shows all over the Philadelphia area.  Soon after, we released our first CD, The Jersey Corn Pickers, which you can listen to here: http://jerseycornpickers.bandcamp.com/

That summer, we won the Best New Band Award at Lehigh Valley Bluegrass Festival. We also performed at the Wilmington Winter Bluegrass Festival and were featured on the Main Stage at the Bucks County Bluegrass Festival and Camp Jam in the Pines Festival.

In 2012, we made our second appearances at the Wilmington Winter Bluegrass Festival, Camp Jam in the Pines, Lehigh Valley Bluegrass Festival and the Bucks County Bluegrass Festival (where Grammy winning bluegrass legend Peter Rowan came out on stage with us to perform).  We were also chosen to compete in the IBMA Event of the Year Winning Podunk Bluegrass Festival, as well as the OATS Bluegrass Festival and the Barnyard Bluegrass Festival.

In 2013, in addition to performing again at the previously mentioned fests, our list of festivals has expanded to include the St. Georges Bluegrass Festival, the Ossipee Valley Music Festival, and our first appearance at the Philadelphia Folk Festival.  In all, we played over 40 shows.  We were also nominated by the Philadelphia Folksong Society for a Tri-State Indie Award.  It was a very good year for us.

So far in 2014, weve performed at the World Caf Live and on the Gene Shay Folk Show on WXPN in Philadelphia, as well as having our songs played on XPN.  Were now booking shows for spring and summer.

Weve been honing our chops playing clubs, coffee houses, halls and festivals all over Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Connecticut, Maryland and Maine. We'll be adding New York and Vermont to that list this summer.  You'll find our schedule and venues played on the website.  Were currently writing and recording our second CD, due for release this spring.  You can see our schedule of venues and shows play past and upcoming on the website and facebook page, which now has over 1,700 Likes.

We would love to play your venues and festivals!  Thanks for considering us and we hope to hear from you soon!
