In an age of Lordes, Zuckerbergs and Dunhams, it can be easy to get carried away with the prodigious potential of youth. More often than not, however, these talented youngsters are highly thought of for a reason. On his debut EP Ocean, 18-year-old Adelaidean Jesse Davidson joins such illustrious company. The depth and maturity of his song writing, coupled with his freakishly talented vocal range, totally belie his young years.
The moods across these five tracks range from the Grizzly Bear dreaminess of Big Bois Gotta Eat to the alienating warmth of the title track. In between Davidson manages to juxtapose light and dark, space and clutter in a way most artists spend their entire careers attempting to perfect. - Rip It Up
While he describes himself as "a cool 18-year-old bloke who is old enough to drink a beer," Adelaide musician Jesse Davidson is much more than that. We've been following his work for around two years now, dating back to his gorgeous single "Flaws," and have been spinning his debut EP Ocean ever since its release in April.
After the success of its first single "Big Bois Gotta Eat," which was added to rotation on Triple J and helped Davidson pick up support slots for the likes of Mac DeMarco and Wild Beasts, we now turn our attention to the EP's title track, "Oceans."
From the start, you'll notice something special about the way Davidson's vocals draw you in -- he possesses an unbelievably mature, substantial tone for someone so young. A warm, dreamy pop-rock ballad, "Ocean" is a track bound to get under your skin and stay there as you inevitably play it over and over.
Davidson has got a busy schedule ahead, with performances locally and abroad before he settles down to record his next release in London. - Indie Shuffle

Jesse Davidson Biography
After a few listens to ‘Ocean’ you would
be forgiven for thinking Jesse Davidson was much older than his 18 years.
Over a mournful and discordant organ, an
unexpected and pacey rhythm lays the foundation for Jesse’s cut through vocal
and gentle harmony. Uncluttered but never empty, balanced, not overbearing,
‘Ocean’ is an ode to reflection and solitude.
‘Ocean’ is the second single to be
lifted from his debut EP of the same name.
With recording sessions taking place
between a mixture of Jesse’s bedroom in the Adelaide foothills and various
Brisbane studios, with members of The Preatures, the final result is an excitingly
diverse listen and a hugely assured debut.
Far
from just a studio project Jesse has also been touring relentlessly since
completing high school in late 2013. Supporting the likes of Mac Demarco and
Ball Park Music on their respective national tours as well hitting the road
with Eves on a joint headline run.
Praise
