Jesse Chong hails from the resort town of Virginia Beach, Virginia and is a master of the game in his hometown. His dedication and unfaltering work ethic make him the most sought after artist in the region and affords him a lifestyle centered on music. Jesse performs as a solo artist as well as with a 4 piece band covering a range of genres- including blues, bluegrass, reggae, and funk. Jesse’s eclectic sound draws comparisons to artists such as Ben Harper, Dave Matthews, John Mayer, and Keller Williams.
Jesse is 28 years old and has been playing paid gigs since the age of 13. His talent and professionalism have made him the “first call” artist to open for world-class performers as well as headline his city’s biggest festivals. Jesse’s broad appeal has allowed him to open for classic rockers such as Steely Dan, John Fogerty, Leon Russell and The Neville Brothers, country stars such as Willie Nelson and Brad Paisley, reggae greats such as Steel Pulse, Israel Vibration, and the Wailers, jambands such as Dark Star Orchestra, Perpetual Groove, and RAQ, and also pop artists such as Maroon 5, Norah Jones, Emerson Hart, and INXS. Jesse has performed for thousands of people and wins audiences with impeccable musicianship and excellent songwriting.
Jesse has three albums of original material with a fourth being released in Summer 2008. Not only skilled as a live performer, Jesse’s talents also go into his home studio where he self-produced, engineered, and mixed his last two albums- not to mention performing all the parts!
Recently the Jesse Chong Band was given the “Best Live Performance” award from Portfolio Weekly Magazine, a local magazine based in Southeastern, VA, and Jesse is also honored with the title of “Best Acoustic Act”. These accolades were won by maintaining a fervent fan base that continues to expand.
In every city that Jesse Chong plays he is received enthusiastically and he strives to duplicate his hometown success regionally and nationally.
