Biography

Brooklyn-based pianist/composer Jesse Fischer is crafting a fresh new hybrid sound, with eclectic influences ranging from electro jazz, funk, psychedelic soul, and world music. With a strong emphasis on catchy, infectious grooves and memorable melodies, Fischers music easily crosses boundaries between jazz, soul, and pop. A triple threat as musician, engineer, and producer, Fischer has recorded six albums as a leader with his working unit Soul Cycle, most recently the ObliqSound release Retro Future. Fischers warm, soulful touch, and bold, spacious compositions have earned him three SoulTracks Award nominations and most recently an Independent Music Award nod.

Fischer currently tours internationally with Prince protg Andy Allo and Atlantic recording artist Laura Izibor, and his playing is featured on Anthony Hamiltons Grammy-nominated album Back To Love. In addition, Fischer co-produced and engineered Laura Izibors Brooklyn Sessions, Vol. 1 EP on Atlantic Records and is currently lending his production/engineering talents to emerging artists Rachel Eckroth, Ezra Brown, Melanie Charles, and Brenda Nicole Moorer.

"Jesse Fischer plays with astounding energy; creative ideas seem to issue forth from his hands to his instruments at a geyser-like rate. But he and his young band, Soul Cycle, are at their best when they show restraint, letting a rhythm drive its way toward some resolution."
DownBeat

"Jesse Fischers new album Retro Future takes us back into the timeless sounds of jazz-funk and soul, while commanding elements of electro, hip-hop and African influences."
JazzTimes

"Jersey-bred, Brooklyn-based keyboardist composes sleek funk, a l Jeff Lorber, but possess a delicate touch like Chick Corea, all while leading his agile road band, Soul Cycle. His chops behind the keys are only surpassed by his prowess as a producer, arranger and engineer."
The Revivalist

"The music is continually expanding into new horizons, and few are as sumptuous as the one Soul Cycle mines. The heavy (if occasionally jittery) grooves are foundations for lyrical, gorgeous blossoms of melody and sound."
