Jesse Jackson and Raffa & Rainer launch East Coast tour
MIAMI, FL January 15, 2006 Jesse Jackson is a singer-songwriter who conjures a bit of Tom Waits, Randy Newman, Bob Dylan and Jeff Buckley. Raffa Jo Harris is a singer-songwriter who sounds to me like a devious Norah Jones with a dash of Squirrel Nut Zippers, Ani DiFranco and Iris Dement thrown in. They both seem to combine irreverance with hints of traditional mountain music to create a fresh and unique take on alt-folk music. Add the virtuoso guitar accompaniment of Rainer Davies and you have a smart, whimsical, emotional brew. These two acts have received much acclaim from the press in their native city of Miami where they perform regularly. Since the two acts have begun performing together, they have made exceptional waves in the acoustic music scene. Raffa and Rainer are currently promoting their debut release, Stolen Coal.
On March 5, 2006, the trio will kick off their tour which will take them up the east coast of the U.S.A. The tour will stop in Atlanta, Asheville, Nashville, Washington D.C., Philadelphia, New York, and Boston, as well as a number of other cities. The shows will be taking place at college campuses, coffee houses, concert venues and pretty much where ever they can find food and a bed.
