"Jesse Mac Cormack After the Glow EP Stream"

"Something's gonna kill us / No, nothing's gonna save us." It's a bleak introductory line to the title track of Jesse Mac Cormack's After the Glow EP, but damned if the surrounding fog of acoustic guitars and ambient tones doesn't hook you in. Ahead of the record's official release, you can sample the aforementioned track, as well as the rest of the EP on Exclaim!

A press release reveals that the Montreal music-maker's third EP was cut in his mom's garage, with the songwriter explaining that it features "five very personal songs that I think a lot of people could relate to." This also includes the minimalist, desperate doom blues of "Addict," the synth-sparkled pop-and-lock of "Never Enough" and the rootsy, reflective "Death Row."

You can stream all of Mac Cormack's latest below, before the EP officially arrives September 16 via Secret City Records.

The artist's upcoming Canadian concert schedule can also be found below, while info on his upcoming European trek can be found here.

Tour dates:

09/15 Lavaltrie, QC - Chasse-Galerie
09/16 Quebec City, QC - District
09/22 Montreal, QC - Rialto Hall (Pop Montreal)
09/24 Alma, QC - Sacré Blues Festival
12/10 Terrebonne, QC - Le Moulinet - Exclaim!

"Montreal's Jesse Mac Cormack twists into serrated desert rock on "Repeat""

Montreal-born producer/multi-instrumentalist Jesse Mac Cormack is sharing new song "Repeat" on Best Fit.

The track follows recent single "After The Glow", and arrives ahead of a string of UK shows next month (including The Great Escape festival).

Like the rest of his output, "Repeat" is self-produced and recorded in his home studio. It builds on the lusher textures and dense instrumentation of "After The Glow", forgoing the pared-back acoustics and threadbare layers of EPs Crush and Music For The Soul. It's kinetic, propelled by bold rhythms and studded with rafter-raising hooks.

A dusty, desert rock vibe - in the vein of Queens Of Stone Age - weaves through the windswept soundscapes of "Repeat", giving it a bloodied edge that's far less welcoming. It's tense, frantic, and bursting with ideas. Rhythms barrel into abrupt pace changes, wiry riffs buzz against classic rock thumps and Mac Cormack's hoarse howls hurtle into the abyss - it's a new turn from the talented Montrealer, but one that demands your attention.

Speaking about the song, Mac Cormack says: "You move on and try so many different things on different people and still the first time you tasted love and sex together has marked you forever. You have a new life that suits you in many ways but it just isn't enough for you to really move past it. Everything you say, feel or do makes you crave for what you had.”

"Song of the day: "Never Enough" by Jesse Mac Cormack"

If you need an anthem for this weekend look no further than the new single from Montreal-based musician, Jesse Mac Cormack. "Never Enough" is sure to put some pep your step. Although lyrically the song demands patience, the beat that drives this one along is edgy enough that you won't miss the vox for the first minute and twenty seconds. Mac Cormack recently gained major support from BBC Radio 6 for his song "After the Glow." He also just wrapped both a tour in the US with Half Moon Run and some amazing shows in Europe with the likes of Patrick Watson, Cat Power, The Barr Brothers, and The Great Escape.

As if that wasn't enough, Jesse will be making the rounds of multiple music festivals in Canada this summer. Dates below:
