Bio

The music of Jesse Rice is kind of like a sonic
smorgasbord- there is a little something for everyone. It's what you would expect from someone whos influences range from Tupac Sakur to Garth Brooks to the Indigo Girls, and everything in between. At times it sounds country, sometimes pop. And sometimes there is an R&B feel, or you will find him breaking into freestlye in the middle of a song.
For today's listener who, due to the crossover nature of music, generally listen to a variety of genres- Jesse Rice is just about right. He offers a wide range of musical material in one act, a fact not lost on music fans of all kinds. Strongly lyrically based, with a musical fusion of country/pop-rock/and hiphop... there is a little something for everyone in the music of the South Carolina native, and Nashville-based singer/songwriter, Jesse Rice. "When one grows up in the South, you have a variety of music at the fingertips", says Rice. "To me, there is no region in the country where the music is as formative and diverse. It's the blues of Muddy Waters and Robert Johnson, it's the southern rock of Lynard Skynard and Marshall Tucker, singer/songwriters such as James Taylor, and country like Johnny Cash or bluegrass like Bill Monroe, its hiphop like Outkast and on and on." It is in this setting that Rice's appetite for musical diversity began, and as he grew as a writer and performer, took a bit of all of these as he went. And so today, his music comes at you from all angles and genres- it is his wish that everybody that listens will like a piece of something "I always wanted make an album in which there could be a songs that relate to everybody, something that could be eclectic and diverse stylistically", Rice says. He has recently wrapped up production on his first studio album- "Words for the Wasted"...soon to be available online at itunes.com, cdbaby.com, awarestore.com, netlivemusic.com, and via his website, www.jesserice.com. So be on the lookout, and everybody get FUNKTIFIED!!!
