Bio
Born and raised in the suburbs of Paris, France,
Jessica Joli took guitar lessons for a few
years but was attracted to singing. She wrote her first songs at the age of 11
and never stopped since then. She studied musicology
and sociology at the Ecole Normale Supérieure (Ulm) and on parallel did Jazz Studies at the conservatoire of
the 9th arrondissement of Paris with Guylenn Delassus after 5 years of choir, a year of show choir and
R’N’B classes.
In 2016, Jessica Joli created the duet, now band, Whatever Happens with the Italian guitarist
Andrea Baldoffei. They hosted a Jam Session in Paris for more than a year with
a repertoire from Jazz to Pop and Soul, as well as Blues. They have released
their first EP in January 2018, It’s
Gonna Be a Success.
In Chicago since September
2017, Jessica Joli has launched “The
Windy Project”, a series of collaborations with Chicagoans musicians on
original sounds inspired by her stay in the city and influenced by her
encounters and experiences. Formed into the Chicago music scene, this project
involves collaborations with musicians
like Jonah Francese (piano/trumpet player and arranger) or Isabelle Olivier
(French jazz harpist) and producers
such as Brian Bolton, Teddy Rolle and Malik Worthy. She also started a YouTube
Channel with videos of covers and original songs posted bimonthly involving
nothing but her voice as a soundtrack entitled Voice on Track.
