Jessica Benini

Jessica Benini is a British Columbian Canadian grown singer songwriter, beginning her journey as a self-taught acoustic guitarist at age 9. Jessica is an entertaining artist captivating her audience with her energetic personality, soulful melodies, rhythmic guitar and spontaneous harmonica solos.
Jessica is a graduate of Rosebud School of the Arts in Rosebud Alberta where she trained as an actor with the intention to pursue a career in Theatre and Film. Performing as a musician for Rosebud Theatre enabled her to play a variety of different styles and genres of music. She went on to perform at the Medicine Hat Folk Festival and has performed twice at 15 minutes of Fame, Rosebud’s music festival.
In 2007 Jessica moved to Tofino and began introducing the harmonica into her songs. A year later she settled in Victoria where she is currently pursuing her passion for music. In the summer of 2010 she was able to perform twice on Long Beach Radio CHMZFM 90.1 and Victoria’s Campus and Community Station CFUV 101.9 FM. Jessica also entered the Vancouver Island Songwriting Contest for the Islands Folk Festival in 2010 and came in 3rd.
In June 2011 Jessica was the featured artist at Broadway Sessions in the heart of Times Square NYC. She also performed in Philadelphia, PA and New Canaan, Connecticut for the New Canaan Dance Academy 10th Year Anniversary. On her return to Victoria she performed on the PCC Ships Point stage in the Inner Harbor on Canada Day. And is performing for a 2nd time at the Islands Folk Festival in July. Some of the selected venues this past year include the Media Club in Vancouver, Lucky Bar, The Royal Theatre, and the Upstairs Cabaret for the debut of her cd release party in Victoria.
Jessica’s debut album, Express Yourself, is a collection of songs that reflect a journey of passionate honesty. Letting go of that which holds oneself back and always pursuing a fresh start. It speaks about living a life that is meaningful and encourages the continuation of chasing the unattainable. It is an album about calming strength, the journey of self-discovery, always seeking truth and yearning for something more.
Jessica Benini is a transparent artist and observing soul that comes alive when she plays her heart out. She loves the Island life how gently everything moves and breathes. Being a musician on Vancouver Island, Jessica feels understood, free, playful and inspired. Her main goal and practice in life is to play publicly without apology.
