Bio

Jessica Nicole Day was born to sing.
With soulful melodies that are “fun, flirty” and just a little sassy, this native Calgarian R&B pop singer is ready to rock out.
“I was probably one of those people that came out of the womb singing,” says Day. “I always dreamed of being on a giant stage and being the opening act.”
Channeling inspiration from personal experiences and her own musings, Day takes audiences on a journey through the passions, pleasures and pains of life.
Her fervor for performing started when she was only five years-old. Listening to music legends Michael Jackson and Mariah Carey, she performed for friends, family and audiences of teddy bears alike.
But those early performances were only the beginning.
In junior high, Day began to not only realize her dream, but cultivated a plan to make it a reality.
She became acquainted with Toshi Jackson, a local vocal teacher and founder of Toshi Jackson and the Silhouettes—a Vegas type performance group which Day would later become a member of.
At the time of Day’s vocal lessons, Jackson was creating her own production company and invited Jessica into the studio for her first recording.
“Once I was in the studio it was like ‘oh my God, this is exactly what I’m doing,’” says Day.
Feeling relaxed in a studio setting, Jessica attended “The Beach”, an advanced audio production school in Calgary, where she earned a certificate of recording and engineering. Her impeccable timing also put her in touch with Greg Gunhold, who later became her producer.
As a member of Toshi Jackson and the Silhouettes, Day grooved through the mo-town, jazz, rock and contemporary tunes of the group’s regular performances. The whole experience not only expanded her music repertoire but taught her about the trials and triumphs of live performance.
“I’m comfortable on stage. I like being looked at. I love being able to get all dressed up, and made up and go out and entertain people.”
After a short stint in Mount Royals College’s radio broadcasting program, Day left the Silhouettes and decided to dedicate her time and resources into pursuing a professional singing career.
Working collectively with Gunhold and Lanny Williamson, owner of The Beach and one of Day’s mentors, Jessica has since fused her passion, previous experience and professionalism into a vibrant demo CD.
“Now that my demo’s done and I’ve had some good feedback, it’s starting to all fall together.”
