"Thurston Moore and Byron Coley's Bull Tongue"

It takes a lot for us to actually listen to a CD but when we recently got a letter [from Jessica] we had to blow the dust off the laswer and hear just what the hell this could be about. We were immediately stuck to our seats stunned and smiling as Jessica Delfino engaged us in tune after tune...Jessica grew up in Maine...but states she never became a hippie. In fact, she states this quite a few times, not in defense or in repulsion to hippies but...just so you know: she is not a hippie. But she is funny. And smart. And she lives in NYC doing stand-up comedy here and there, is an activist...(we know all of this from reading her blog). She also has songs, some of 'em are great...which we'd throw on an Arthur comp any day, especially if that day ever comes (we're working on it). - Arthur Magazine

Bio

Jessica grew up in a small Maine town, the oldest of 6 sisters. With influences like Stephen King and Canada, Jessica began delving into the quirkier side of life. Jessica is a fearless woman who has traveled and performed all over the world, in festivals such as Reading & Leeds, Latitude Festival, Montreal Comedy Fest, Dublin Comedy Festival, Galway Comedy Festival, NY International Children's Festival, Edinburgh Fringe Festival and much more. Jessica's music is likable but frank, and combines comedy into the mix. Influences include Joni Mitchell, Heart, Led Zeppelin and Liz Phair. An art school background gives Jessica that added je nais cest quai and allows her the ability to wear whatever she wants on stage. Don't shy away from bringing granny and the kids to the show -- the elderly LOVE Jessica, and though some of Jessica's material is a bit ribald, the kids are gonna learn it anyway, so they may as well learn it with mom and dad in the room.

Extended Bio:

How might one describe Jessica Delfino?

One half a female version of “Flight of the Concords”

Like Joni Mitchell if she were raised wrong

A young demented Carol Burnett

X All of the above!

Jessica is known worldwide as a satirical musician, artist & activist who uses her own comedy, illustration, videos and art in her performances. She tours the US and the UK regularly and has performed in many festivals including the Reading & Leeds Festival, Latitude Festival, Montreal Comedy Festival, Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Dublin Comedy Festival, NY International Children’s Film Festival and more. Jessica plays the guitar, flying V ukulele, singing saw, “rape” whistle, electronic auto-harp and many other eclectic instruments in her unique act.

Jessica’s comedy and ideas are inspired by being the oldest of 6 sisters, growing up in a small town in Maine, and her disenchantment / amusement with all that is wrong in the world. When Jessica was 19, she moved to Philadelphia to study animation after winning a scholarship to the Art Institute of Philadelphia, and relocated to NYC shortly after graduating which she still calls home when she is not touring.

Her polarizing music, performances, art and internet videos have won many awards and garnered much praise, and have also been publicly degraded by the Catholic League.

She has performed her music and written segments and songs for television (including ABC’s “Good Morning America”, MTV’s “I Bet You Will”, Fox News “Red Eye with Greg Gutfeld”, TBS’s “Saving Grace” website and “The Tyra Banks Show”), radio (including “The Opie and Anthony Radio Show”, BBC’s “Loose Ends Radio Programme” and BBC’s “The Simone Show” in the UK), feature films (including “What Would Jesus Buy?” directed by Morgan Spurlock), and stages and festivals across the US and the UK (including London’s prestigious Soho Theatre, Reading & Leeds Festival, Latitude Festival, Dublin Comedy Festival, NYC’s Irving Plaza, Joe’s Pub and The Bowery Ballroom as John Waters’ opening act, and LA’s Troubadour).
