Jazz from an eclectic point of view.


Originally from Buffalo Grove, IL, Jessica Lee has been playing saxophone since the age of 9. After having studied and started a career in contemporary/pop styles, she began to play bebop, big band, and jazz during her freshman year of high school. At the age of 14, she joined the Harper College Jazz Ensemble. Since then, she has played lead alto for Harper, Moraine Valley Community College, Illinois Music Educator’s Association District Jazz 1 Ensembles, IMEA Allstate Honors Jazz Ensemble, the Merit School of Music Honors Jazz Ensemble, Concert Jazz Ensemble, and Latin Jazz Ensemble, the Carl Sandburg High School Jazz 1 Ensemble, the SWSC District Ensemble, and has been awarded outstanding soloist at the Elmhurst Jazz Fest, Chicagoland Invitational, North Shore Jazz Fest, Rolling Meadows Jazz Fest, etc. Jessica has studied with saxophonists Jerry Ruthrauff and Mark Colby, Professor of Applied Jazz Saxophone at DePaul University, along with Jim Odgren and Shannon LeClaire at the Berklee College of Music. The summer of 2008, she was chosen as part of the Vail Jazz All Stars which was sponsored by the Vail Jazz Association and taught by educators John and Jeff Clayton, Bill Cunfliffe, Lewis Nash, and Terrell Stafford. She is currently a Presidential Scholar studying at the Berklee College of Music for performance and jazz composition. ( and
