Jessie Murphy, a frequent Village Voice Choice, combines her love of blues and dynamic pop melodies with her inventive guitar driven grooves. The Voice says, “with a voice like ripping silk...she’s somewhere between a photonegative of Jimi Hendrix and Joni Mitchell’s scrappy kid sister.”
Two of Jessie’s songs from her EP “Live at the Funhouse will appear in the film, Last Request, starring Danny Aiello, to be released in Spring, 2006. In the past year Jessie was dubbed a “winning singer-songwriter” by The New Yorker and featured in an article in the London Guardian on the New York City music scene.
Paste magazine selected Jessie's EP, Room Alone, as one of it's six favorites for 2005
This February Jessie has a Residency at New York's famed club, The Living Room. She plays every Tuesday at 9:00.
