Biography

Grammy Nominated singer / songwriter, Jessi Lynn, was born and raised with the knowledge that she can do anything as long as she is willing to work hard for it. She picked up a guitar when she was twelve, she got a job so she could afford lessons and she rode the coat tail of her older (singing) sister until she found the confidence to sing on her own.

She found her way to the stage with the influence of Reba McEntire, The Judds, Barbara Mandrell, Martina McBride, Faith Hill, Sheryl Crow and Jewel, and since then, has never looked back. "I suppose I could have done a lot of things with my life, but music captured my entire being and often times, even saved me from myself. Once music found me, there was no choice left for me to make. I knew this was what I was meant to do with my life", Lynn says.

Since 2000, Lynn has released three studio Cd’s, all of which she wrote, recorded and co-produced as well as releasing her fourth project, a “Live” Cd that she released in the fall of 2007. She has been nominated for thirteen Grammy Awards and has won four Madison Area Music Awards (MAMA), including “Album of the Year” for "You Ain't Seen Nothin' Like This" (2005) and “Country Song of The Year” & “Country Artist of The Year“ (2006) and currently holds the title of “Female Vocalist Of The Year“ (2008). With many other songwriting awards under her belt, Lynn has proven her worth as an independent artist and has been featured in numerous publications, compilations disks as well as the independent film, “Gabriel”, by Nic Woodward. Woodward also produced a DVD with Jessi Lynn to accompany her “live” Cd, of which was released in the spring of ‘08. When asked why she recorded a live Cd so early in her career, Jessi responded laughing, "Early in my career? Hell, I’ve been doing this a lot of years… but, the truth is, I just wanted to capture a moment with my band. We have accomplished so much this past year, opening for Emerson Drive, Gary Nichols and even playing Summerfest. I mean, Summerfest?? The world‘s largest music festival?? Hell yeah and I was asked to play, I didn’t have to beg, which is almost un-heard of. So yeah, the band and I have done a lot since the success of my Cd, “You Ain’t Seen Nothin’ Like This” and I thought it was a great idea to capture as much as we could in one ordinary night on stage. Plus, I get so many fans asking how they can get copies of the songs we play live and honestly, I was tired of hearing about it.” She says laughing. “It's a totally different feel than what you hear on the original records and I just thought it was a great idea to always have a night to remember no matter what might happen down the road. Things change, I lose players and I gain new players and each member of my band has their own musical careers, I really just wanted to capture what we have before it was gone... so, I did."

Lynn has recently re-located to Newnan, Georgia and has a full band already working the club circuit with her. She continues to travel back and forth and keeps the band in Madison, WI working as much as possible. “It’s tough to balance two bands when they are thousands of miles apart, but it’s important to keep my northern guys together. They started this whole thing with me and they helped me build the fan base up there. It’s our success, not just mine. I will always be a road girl, having two bands is just a part of that lifestyle.”

Starting over in a new city is just a part of what Lynn does. “Sometimes I’m the big dog and other times, I’m the under dog. Everyone has to start somewhere and no one really has the same status in every town. My guys in the south are incredible musicians and are eager to help build my career with me. I have no doubt that in a year or so, we’ll be the big dogs around here,” She says with a laugh.

Lynn has a long road ahead of her and at the rate she's going and with the speed of which she is going, there is little doubt that she'll get where she's headed. "The only thing that could stop me is myself and I know that isn't going to happen, so the journey is never ending. I’ve had jobs where I made a hell of a lot more money than I do now, but… I’ve never been this happy.”

*****

Lyrics

Dance In The Rain

Written By: Jessi Lynn

Look at You, You're looking so good
Sweet temptation, really does a body good
You're the forbidden fruit from the forbidden tree
Oh and I've been thinkin' things, that I really shouldn't be.
And You, yeah, You're the one to blame.
For making me, making me feel this way

I wanna dance in the rain
I wanna go insane
Feel your body next to mine
With nothing between us, but the rain and the night
We'll fan the flame that burns so high
Baby put your hand in mine,
Let's dance in the rain

Bittersweet sensations
And the feel of your breath upon my skin
And the taste on my lips
From that, three hour kiss
And the warmth of a summer midnight breeze

I wanna dance in the rain
I wanna go insane
Feel your body next to mine
With nothing between us, but the rain and the night
We'll fan the flame that burns so high
Baby put your hand in mine,
Let's dance in the rain

(short guitar solo)

I wanna dance in the rain
I wanna go insane
Feel your body next to mine
With nothing between us, but the rain and the night
We'll fan the flame that burns so high
Baby put your hand in mine,
Let's dance in the rain

(longer guitar solo)

(music fades, vocal tease)

I wanna dance, with you
I wanna dance, with you
I wanna dance...
I wanna dance....
I wanna dance.... (music gets bigger and bigger and bigger)

(long, huge guitar solo and band explosion)

You Ain't Seen Nothin' Like This

Written By: Jessi Lynn

You ain't seen nothin' like me yet
This ain't my first time on the ledge
Right behind me is where you stand
I feel your hands upon my back
You're gonna push me off again

You're gonna do it, go ahead
I'll just keep comin' back again
You don't know me well enough
To know that I will not give up
You ain't seen nothin' like me yet

No, you ain't seen nothin'
No, you ain't seen nothin'
No, you ain't seen nothin', like this

You think you know just where I've been
You think you know me, think again
I've been beaten worse than this
Battered and broken by your fists
Survivin's just what I do best

Oh kick me down and burn me up
Give me more, that ain't enough
Come on now man just split my lip
Is that all you got left to give
You ain't seen nothin' like me yet

No, you ain't seen nothin'
No, you ain't seen nothin'
No, you ain't seen nothin', like this

So watch me fall and rise again
I will forget and I'll forgive
I will do the best I can
Time and time and time again
You ain't seen nothin' like me yet

No, you ain't seen nothin'
No, you ain't seen nothin'
No, you ain't seen nothin'
No, you ain't seen nothin'
No, you ain't seen nothin', like this

Anywhere, But Here

Written By: Jessi Lynn

I need a little time with me and the highway
Go for a drive, maybe run away
To clear my head and mend my heart
Better do it now before I fall apart
Calm my nerves and wipe away the tears
Destination anywhere, but here

Anywhere I go has got to be better than this
All that I have here, is nothing that I'll miss
I'll turn the radio down, listen to the sound of two hands on the wheel
Fill this hole with nothin' but the road
See how freedom feels
I'm outta here,
Destination anywhere, but here

Where will I go, it makes no difference
No need for me to pay attention
Drive too fast, dont look back
Drive til I out run my past
Dry my eyes and finally face my fears
Destination anywhere, but here

(solo)

Anywhere I go has got to be better than this
All that I have here, is nothing that I'll miss
I'll turn the radio down, listen to the sound of two hands on the wheel
Fill this hole with nothin' but the road
See how freedom feels
I'm outta here,
Destination anywhere, but here

Maybe I'll drive until I find, the edge of the world
Maybe I'll settle down somtime, in the middle of nowhere
Maybe I'll just keep drivin' til I ain't got nothin' left
I'm half way there.

Anywhere I go has got to be better than this
All that I have here, is nothing that I'll miss
I'll turn the radio down, listen to the sound of two hands on the wheel
Fill this hole with nothin' but the road
See how freedom feels
I'm outta here,
Destination anywhere, anywhere but here.

It's You

Written By: Jessi Lynn

I've been looking all my life
I've been searching low and high
Who would have thought that it would be
Right in front of me
All of this time

I've been praying for a sign
Looking left and looking right
Who would have thought that I would see,
You were right in front of me
All of this time

And now I'm ready to move
Now I am ready, to love you
I can finally see the truth
After all this time, It's You
It's You

I can see it clearly now
I can feel it, there ain't any doubt
Now I see just what I found
After all this time

And now I'm ready to move
Now I am ready, to love you
I can finally see the truth
After all this time, It's You
It's You

There ain't no way around it
Now that I finally found it
There ain't no way in hiding the truth
We'll love forever after
For worse and then for better
There ain't no way to keep me from you

And now I'm ready to move
Now I am ready, to love you
I can finally see the truth
After all this time
After all this time
It's You
It's You
It's always been You.
