Bio

Weaving soulful melodies with the roots of folk and blues, Jess Langer brings a fresh flavor to the Louisville music community that has captured attention where age is not a number. With projects ranging from traditional bluegrass to indie rock, Langer is constantly evolving and bridging the influences into her own truly unique sound. Currently in the studio working on her second album, Jess has been blazing a trail through her hometown with solo performances and a weekly residency with bluegrass phenomena, The White Russians.

Growing up in several different states, one thing remained constant, her passion for music. Once settling in Louisville, on came the classical training which gave her the first taste of the stage. She began traveling to sing the National Anthem across the country, but yearned for something more. Nashville. At 18, nothing could hold her back as she moved and plunged right in to the tight-knit Nashville music community. Almost immediately, she had earned her way into blues showcases with soul singers ranging from Muzik Mafia to Circle of Sound. Langer's musical pursuits led her to performing with FutureMan of Bela Fleck & The Flecktones and recording with Shooter Jennings.

Langer released her debut album This Far Down in August of 2010 while living in Nashville. The album showcases funky grooves and tribal percussion, heartfelt ballads laced with live string sections, piano and chilling harmonies. Authentic and raw, the heartfelt voice that pours out of her translates into an intensely compelling live performance. She harnesses both the attention and emotion of her audience with her gripping personal testimony that emerges through her lyrics.

In 2011, Langer returned to her roots in KY for the opportunity to collaborate with the emerging local music scene that critics were raving about. Immediately joining forces with the unwavering talent of former Arnett Hollow guitarist Dave Chandler, they wasted no time in forming a full powerhouse band for her solo project. It all started with an open mic here and there, eventually leading to performing at the legendary Brown Theater. Thirsting for more, Langer branched out and collaborated with JK Mabry to open for multiplatinum recording artist, Uncle Kracker and performing a solo set opening for the Grammy nominated Seth Glier. When asked to perform on WHAS Great Day Live she was much obliged to reach a viewership of over half a million people across Kentucky and Indiana which skyrocketed her following.

When asked what's next, Jess comments that she has a plethora of new tunes on deck currently being recorded at Dead Bird Studios in Louisville. Langer says, "I'm super excited for what's in the works and couldn't be happier to be coming back to Nashville. See you guys soon!"
