Biography

Jesús and the Rabbis started 3 years ago when Jesús came to Josh kHz with original tunes. They have been playing together for 11 years so it seemed like a good fit. They recruited Chris Cookies Kelly on drums. All three were students of Michael Finley in Palo Alto. They were an instrumental Jam band for the first 2 years but then Jesús began writing lyrics to tunes. But something was missing. They asked The Lovely Wise, a long time friend, to join the band as the lead singer. Jesús began writing tunes to for The Lovely Wise and the rest is history. Our influences include Primus, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Police, The Beatles, Portishead, Tom Waits, Mr. Bungle, Led Zeppelin, Jaco Pastorius, Stevie Wonder, Jimi Hendrix, and Parliament Funkadelic. We want to make our shows eclectic as possible playing originals and covers that are varied in style. We lean towards Funk and Rock but are always looking for different types of music to play. Music is our passion and playing music for people is one of our favorite activities. We want our audience to have the best time possible so we bring our best to the table every time we play. It can be to a room of 10 people or a room of 100 people, we always rock out our very hardest.

A Walk

Written By: Alex Mamelok

Hey You
Yes You
What would you
Like to do?
Smoke? Toke?
Or perhaps a glass of wine?
12 year old scotch?
Or a shot of turpentine?

A Walk?
A Walk!
Let’s take a walk
Through the town
Around the block
Let’s take a walk
Let’s take a stroll
Through the town the Devil sold

Where to Go?
What to do?
I think I found a friend
A new friend in you
Grab hold
Hold on tight
We’re about to have
One hell of a night!

A Walk?
A Walk!
Let’s take a walk
Through the town
Around the block
Let’s take a walk
Let’s take a stroll
Through the town the devil sold

Hey You
Yes You
What would you
Like to do?

A Walk?
A Walk!
Let’s take a walk
Through the town
Around the block
Let’s take a walk
Let’s take a stroll
Through the town the Devil sold

The Jesús Cave

Written By: Alex Mamelok

Steam engine bathtubs
Water logged ashtrays
Machine stained ink sap
Sun dried brewglass
Terribly tainted beer gravy
Rusted over grout trout
Disconnected chronicles
Of the past's hope and doubt
Iron cast pillow cases
Pushpin steak rub
Bloody broken bass strings
Creamed copper fog
Quasar flavored butane bacon
Carbon dusted alchemy
A muse of misplaced memories
A psychosis art gallery

Welcome to my cave
A decade in the making
Corroded, coarse, a few stains of remorse
Instrumental in awakening

Aluminum laced hallways
Phosphorescent faucet fossils
Spotted purple Cabinet mushroom
Sun dried brewglass
Terribly tainted beer gravy
Rusted over grout trout
An Amalgamation of conversations
Of the past's hope and doubt
Iron cast pillow cases
Pushpin steak rub
Thistle quilted toilet tissue
Pewter powdered clog
Quasar flavored butane bacon
Carbon dusted alchemy
A muse of misplaced memories
A psychosis art gallery

Welcome to my cave
A decade in the making
Corroded, coarse, a few stains of remorse
Instrumental in awakening

Steam engine bathtubs

The Nuthouse

Written By: Alex Mamelok

Immaturity that I didn’t think was possible
Avoided eye contact. Something born from youth and now
I’ve moved on but the movements have gone bitter
By a cold shoulder that makes my skin slither

Across the bar where it decided to sit
Next to a friend of mine
He had $50 on beating the spread
But his team fell behind
He slammed his beer down and swore up a storm
“Goddamnit! Goddamnit!“ His voice getting sore.
He turned to my skin and said, “I’m broke to the bone.”
Finished up his beer and started the cold walk home

The Nuthouse
Tonight the insane will reign

My boots went a stompin across the concrete
Peanuts in hand and their shells at my feet
The peanut’s situation seemed similar to mine
I asked my skin to come back but I was denied
I pleaded and pleaded, The sound of defeat.
My skin was being stubborn It went out to the street
I coaxed it back inside with the promise of beer
Looked away for a second and my skin disappeared

The Nuthouse
Tonight the insane will reign

Insecurities led to acting hostel
From somebody that I thought I knew so well
It was odd but I did see it coming
But not for long cuz my eyes went runnin’

Over to the bar. They sat next to my skin
Ordered a couple rounds
I’m getting tired of them playing this game
I lunged at them but fell to the ground
The right one went left and the left one went right
Now my skin was out of sight
Stumbling and Tumbling to hunt the three down
I ended up chasing them all over town

The Nuthouse
Tonight the insane will reign

Don't be afraid to say it to my face
When you are I can hear your hearbeat
When you are it makes me think
Why are you lying to me
Why are you lying to me

Now I know
You're gone
You're gone
You're gone

And Now I hold my stomach in my hands
My head is hanging as low as it can
I'm trying to take it like a man
But all of me refuses to understand
I just can't seem to understand

Now I know
You're gone
You're gone
You're gone

Yes I know
You're gone
You're gone
It's done

Gotta keep looking forward can't keep lookin back
God help me look forward 'cause I can't look back

Now I know
You're gone
You're gone
You're gone

Yes I know
You're gone
You're gone
It's time to...move on
