Biography

In Hosea 1:4, God directed the prophet to name his son Jezreel, meaning “God will scatter” to indicate the judgment His people would face for their wickedness. However, in Hosea 2:23, God tells Hosea that after the time of judgment is complete, He would gather them back to Himself, & with a play on the original meaning of Jezreel, says He “ will sow them into the land for Myself”, indicating that the Lord Himself would renew & prosper His people after the period of discipline was over.

As individuals, the members of Jezreel Sun have seen this principle at work in our lives. Having lived in disobedience to God & being drawn back through His discipline, we believe God is nurturing us to grow more fully into who He wants us to be. We are Jezreel Sun because we are living in a new day of God’s mercy & grace because of Jesus sacrifice for us. As a result, we are passionate about sharing the message of God’s love & mercy through our music.

Our musical style is rock, & our lyrics deal with the struggles and triumphs of living out our Christian faith. We consider any opportunity to play as an opportunity to minister & share the hope we have in Christ.

Lyrics

Judgment Day

Written By: Joe Miller

Verse 1
Do we ever take the time to make amends
At the end of the day do we look at who we’ve been
Do we really know which road to take
Have we ever tested our own faith
Do we put it on the line

Chorus
Will you walk on by
Will you look me in the eye and say
Will you pass me by
Will you turn around or walk away

Verse 2
Do we ever take the time to make a friend
At the end of the day have we let anybody in
Do we really know which road to take
Have we ever tested our own faith
Do we put it on the line

Chorus x 3

Gotta Let Go

Written By: Craig Astorian

Verse 1
Got to try and find a new direction
Where to turn when the sun goes down
‘Cause I’ve been prayin’ nightly for protection
And where to fall when my turn comes around

Chorus
Gotta let go
Gotta let go
Gotta let go
Let Christ live in me
Gotta let go
Gotta let go
Gotta let go
Let Christ live in me

Verse 2
Got to try and make the right decision
And trust in God for my own destiny
Shadows are arousing my suspicions
It’s in disguise. These fears ain’t foolin’ me

Chorus x 1

Verse 3
Cannot live a life of disillusion
When I fight the nature that’s in me
Committing all my life to Christ’s provision
And know to trust in what He’s done for me

Chorus x 2

Someone Like Me

Written By: Ed Niepert

Verse
Jesus, why do you want me
Someone, someone like me
Jesus, why do you love me
Someone, someone like me
Jesus, why did you die for me
Someone, someone like me
Jesus, why did you save me
Someone, someone like me

Chorus
And I don’t deserve it
I’ve been a liar, a cheat, & a thief
And I don’t deserve it
Someone like me

Verse
Jesus, why do you want me
Someone, someone like me
Jesus, why do you love me
Someone, someone like me
Jesus, why did you die for me
Someone, someone like me
Jesus, why did you save me
Someone, someone like me

Chorus x 3

Bridge
What a selfish man I am
What a lustful man I am
What a prideful man I am
What a hateful man I am
And I don’t deserve it
Someone like me
I don’t deserve it
Someone like me

Desperate Heart

Written By: Joe Miller, Beverly Brassfield

Verse 1
I don’t have it all together
Not sure I ever will
Stuck in the middle
Of faith and make-believe
Weary of defeat
Where can I turn for
The comfort I need

Verse 2
I keep crawling off the altar
I laid my life upon
Empty sacrifice
Surrender doesn’t reign
Broken before You
Trying to earn
The mercy I need

Chorus 1
Jesus can You handle
This desperate heart of mine
Am I really safe
In Your everlasting Arms
I’m holding on tight
To what my eyes fail to see
Lord, Jesus help my unbelief

The hill, the nails, and the cross
Tell me Your love is real
My vision’s made clear
By filtering circumstance
Through Your sacrifice
Trusting in You for
The grace that I need

Chorus 2
The cross says you can handle
This desperate heart of mine
And I’m really safe
In Your everlasting arms
I’m holding on tight
When my eyes fail to see
Lord Jesus, You are all I need
