Bio

JFK does not stand for John F. Kennedy. JFK is an acronym, featuring the first initial of each of the three members of the group. Jake Knew, Foulmouth, and King Juke.

Out of southeastern Michigan, Foulmouth and King Juke had known each other for some time prior to the group's formation, as each were members of the Detroit/downriver hip hop group called the Deadbeats, and had written tracks together for the better part of the 2000's. Jake Knew meanwhile, had released three albums of his own as 1/2 of the Lincoln Park hip hop group Waste Management. Knew came in contact with Foulmouth in 2008 as they recorded at the same studio in Lincoln Park and Knew also collaborated with Foulmouth when he was apart of Da Bash Brotherz in 2008 and 2009.

In the summer of 2010, Foulmouth and Juke wrote and recorded a couple of tracks as a duo before inviting Knew to come join the party---and with that, JFK was formed. The group began the writing process that summer and eventually released their self-titled debut album in May of 2012.

JFK is unique in that they bring an old-school, boom-bap type of feel to the table with their hard-hitting punchlines and lyrics, but do so with a bit of new-aged flavor over a wide variety of masterful production, ranging from soul samples to ominous sounding keyboard beats. If you MUST put a face on JFK's style, you can just throw the Wu-Tang Clan and Slaughterhouse into a pot and stir it up. But they prefer that you don't compare them to anyone...at least not until you listen for yourself....
