Bio

Jamaal Dawkins, better known by the name J.Grindz, is one of the hottest up and coming music producers in the Bahamas. His gritty and rhythmic beats have made him an underground sensation, but he’s ready to take his talent to the next level and introduce himself to the masses.

After graduating from Alabama State University in 2003, J.Grindz realized what he wanted to do with his life. His passion for the art of music was so overwhelming that he knew he had to be apart of the process. The first machine he purchased was an MPC 1000, which he taught himself how to operate. Influenced by musical greats such as Michael Jackson, Quincy Jones, Dr. Dre and DJ Premier, J.Grindz was able to create and prefect his own fusion of street and soulful sounds.

With the release of his first single “Stay Home Tonight” featuring Bahamian Rapper Mr. Deedz and singer Greneka, you can expect to get a taste of his soulful side, reminiscent of the 70’s era, which happens to be his favorite musical decade. Soon to follow will be his first album entitled “Death to My Enemies” which has a mix of songs that are both appealing to men and women alike. The album features guest appearances by Bahamian rappers Rapp Quelle, Dro Capone and Bloodbath among others, as well as other up and coming foreign artists. When asked why this album title was chosen, J.Grindz replied that he references the word enemy to mean the same as any person, obstacle or situation that stands in the way of him achieving his dream of becoming a successful and respected music producer.

The only way to describe J.Grindz is as a musical visionary whose determination and confidence will undoubtedly propel him to super producer status. His ultimate goal is to deliver the hottest music to the world and to one day, be mentioned in the same sentence as the greats that came before him.
