Counter, originally from Aurora, WI, has opened concert shows for artists including Martina McBride, Toby Keith, Blackhawk, John Hartford, Sawyer Brown, The Marshall Tucker Band, Lacy J. Dalton, Vern Gosdin, Dan Seals, Skip Ewing, John Michael Montgomery and Mark O’Connor.

Jim Counter and the Riley Road Band was voted “1991 Wisconsin State Champions of Country Music” in front of more than 18,000 people at the Hodag County Music Festival in Rhinelander, WI.

Jim has spent more than 16 years in Nashville, TN performing live shows at clubs such as the Bluebird Cafe’ and Opryland Hotel. He’s also worked extensively as a session vocalist, and has written with notable songwriters such as David Lee and Wil Nance. Lee has had cuts by artists including Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, and John Michael Montgomery, and Nance has had cuts by George Strait.
