Bio

Jim played bass and sang for Boston rock legends The Visigoths, whom were described in a garage rock compilation's liner notes as homely, and worthy of greater success if they had only been assholes. All the members were in fact quite ugly, but never capable of sustaining alternative rock assholishness. Well, they could be assholes for a good stretch. Jim played the bass quite well actually, and could sing in key, which has got to be worth a bucket of spit somewhere. Jim says "I can't sit through any of those songs."

Since the 1990s Jim has been a sketch and improv comedy artist and instructor, having studied at Second City and Improv Olympic. Jim has written for and appeared on NPR, CBC Radio in Canada, and several television shows, and appeared at comedy festivals and theaters throughout the US and Canada. He created several songs for the sketch comedy revue Thirty Seconds Over Lake Street. Which may be why anyone is reading this.

Jim is greatly influenced by the work of Paul Samwell-Smith, Chas Chandler, Glen Cornick and Jack Bruce (not his tone though). He also likes stuff like Elton John. His music is more often than not created to fit a title or lyric. Jim makes sound guys happy by knowing how to hit the stage in tune, and with an amp that is neither huge nor turned all the way up. Jim in fact hates loud shit-rock. Jim is set apart from other bands in that he already knows the sweet taste of failure and loss.
