E D# D C# C B F# B
What would you like to dream tonight?

I'm the voice inside your head

Lets call me.....Ned

I say the things you don't say out loud

Things that maybe wouldn't make you proud

Or maybe just get in the way

But I go ahead and say them anyway
E D# D C# C B F# B
So what would you like to dream tonight?

E D# D C# C B F# B
What would you like to dream tonight?

You'll be gone by 10 and back by 8

You won't recall but you feel new

And no one will come looking for you

I put the images in your mind and lead you across space and time

And if by chance we don't get it right

We'll just try again the following night
E D# D C# C B F# B
So what would you like to dream tonight?

GMj7/A A
(sing) Dreams lead to tomorrow (ADDDAE)
AMJ7/B B
Tomorrow's a finer day (BEEBF#)
A#MJ7/C C
Day turns into nighttime (C#F#F#F#C#)
GMJ7/A A13 DMJ9 (R-9-5-7)
And nighttime becomes day

E D# D C# C B F# B
So what would you like to dream tonight?

What would you like to dream tonight?

Shall you be the Would-Be-King?

And be in charge of everything

Or would you like to float and fly

Like Icarus high up in the sky

Or in a fight for your life

With an alien in a battle tonight

Or it can be a roll of the dice

Whatever sounds nice

But you must decide right now

Or we cannot leave the ground

So what would you like to dream tonight

What would you like to dream?

E D# D C# C B F# B

(sing) Dreams lead to tomorrow

Tomorrow's a finer day

Day turns into nighttime

And nighttime becomes day

I was driving down to Memphis with Beale Street on my mind

I had Joe, my alligator, next to me smiling all the time

To Joe, I had a debt to pay; my boots were once his kin

So my trade was this; I'll return Joe to the Spanish Lake Basin

Ride on Joey ride on

Ride on Joey ride on

Olive colored skin, and blackness in the eye

Slow to move but quick to bite, his kind been around a long time

Five fingers on each hand you know, anything is what he eats

Four fingers on each foot for toes, jambalya gator meat

Ride on Joey ride on

Ride on Joey ride on

So I gave Joe his freedom that day in that lonesome backwater lake

"I'll be just fine, don't you worry about me" he bellowed as he made his break

Ride on Joey ride on

Ride on Joey ride on

IV
chorus Here comes the weekend
I
Here it comes again
IV
Here comes the weekend days
V I
Two out of seven ain't bad

(verse) Boss man tellin' me to 9-to-5 it

"Jump in line, don't you fall behind

If you want to make it through to next payday

You best show me what you got, everyday"

(verse) Arrive at 9 and get a coffee at 10

Fifteen minutes later, I'm back at it again

Fork truck actin' up all of the time

Thinkin' ahead, I got one thing on my mind

(Chorus)

(verse) 30 minutes later I'm back on the shift

Government calls it stimulus

My back is breakin', I'm out on the floor

A few hours later I'm right out the door

(verse) Two days of muddy pickup trucks

I'm thinkin' Stetson hats and spending my bucks

Look at Brenda, now ain't she cute

In her snakeskin boots, ain't she a hoot

(Chorus)

Excuse my lack of reaction
You'll get no satisfaction from me
'Cause I'm on a vacation
You see, I'm temporarily dead

Its the only explanation
For my absence of attention
Don't look for a celebration
I'm just temporarily dead

There's too much fast food and TV shows
Tellin' me everything and where everything goes

General Motors' abomination
Health Care is the next modification

Can you understand the frustration
We're swimming in a pool of despiration
My mind is numb, its in hybernation
'Cause I'm temporarily dead

Here's the situation
Our money engine starts up with mass communication
By AT&T's domination
So I'm temporarily dead.

There are too many drugs and too many wars
And the merchants who say buy more, more, more

Bigger and faster, brighter and stronger
Do these give us any time longer?

I was riding in my starship for days on end

When suddenly I saw that a half a dozen friends

Had followed me alongside

Nothing better to do

So I signaled them right on down for a rondevous

We flew about a million miles before we noticed that

Our defenses were copping out from a sneak attack

So we surrendered our ship

They took us to their jail

The answer to my S.O.S.,

"Can't post no bail"

The pointed eared judge looked down on us

And motioned toward the slammer-imprisoned us

Now here is a place

That just ain't no fun

Can you dig living in a outer space dungeon

(chorus) I'm a space rackateer

A real space tycoon

I'm a space rackateer

Move over , give me room

I'm a space rackateer

Someone's always on my tail

A space rackateer

It's me they're gonna nail

Within a week we made our break for an asteroid

Man, this place was crawling with all kinds of humanoids

Who looked ok but they wouldn't give no rest

They wanted us for dinner, but I

Don't mean as guests

We had to cop a shuttlecraft

From a three-eyed goon

And I promised that we'd give (bring) it back

By tomorrow noon

But you know I didn't really

Mean what I sid

After a time like that just wanted to sleep in my own bed

(Chorus)
