Jim Knapp Orchestra

As a composer, my influences include the great jazz composers and arrangers like Ellington, Strayhorn, Gil Evans, plus classical composers, African music and the varios forms of Latin music. As a trumpet player, I worked for a number of years in the Seattle area and came to realize that there was a desire among the best musicians to form a progressive minded original jazz orchestra. Many of the musicians have been with the group since its beginning in 1992 and there are a number of players who would be happy to join once an opening occurs. There is great pride among the musicians because of the high standards established by their musicianship.
