Genre – Folk

Toronto, Ontario based folk artist; Jimmy Pearson released his debut EP, “Good Friends” at the beginning of the month, featuring five tracks.

The opening track, “One By One” has a slight country sound that I quite enjoyed, and I couldn’t help but sing along to this track. It’s got a great beat, and lyrics that just seem to slide off of the tongue easily. As the EP plays on, “Bruised” the second track won me over, which is one of the slower of the EP but still has a beat that makes your feet want to tap.

“Raspberry Wine” is another that stood out to me, it’s a lot shorter track but is full of energy and I was singing along quickly, and as with the rest of the tracks, it made me want to get up and move.

Jimmy has a talent for songwriting, as well as performing those songs. It’s this type of album that always gets me, as it shows the talent behind the artist when they can write songs that appeal to many genres, and this is the case for “Good Friends”.

Bio

It must be humble, sincere, crunchy and organic if it’s a song by Jimmy Pearson. As a singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist, Jimmy strives for fun and originality in his lyrics and melodies to create unique pieces of music. Though he may often fall into the folk/rock genre, his songwriting appeals to diverse and thoughtful audiences based in the realm of real instruments.

Jimmy Pearson’s performances are rollercoasters of energy, from his heart wrenching slow tunes, to the toe tapping rhythms of his up tempo numbers. His live set up changes between his full band set up and his one man band performances, where he plays his suitcase drums with his feet.

Jimmy released his debut EP Good Friends in November of 2015 and was received extremely well by his fans. Working with producer John Switzer, Good Friends was able to become an honest and whimsical musical soundscape, defiant of any one genre.
