Her First Dance

Written By: Jimmy Anthon

Her First Dance

She just stood there and she smiled,
And a tear came to her eye,
As her dad walked off that airplane,
With a brand new shirt and tie.
She ran up there to greet him,
With her arms spread wide apart,
He didn’t say how much it hurt him,
Guess he had too strong a heart.

In her new ball gown,
Everyone around
Just flew into town
With his life at chance
To see her first dance

His little girl she was growing up,
He wasn’t going to miss this day,
When she told him that she loved him,
He couldn’t help but look away
He didn’t want her to see his pain,
He didn’t want her to know he was weak.
Told himself he’d over-come it,
This illness wouldn’t have him beat.

In her new ball gown,
Everyone around
Just flew into town
With his life at chance
To see her first dance

Doctors couldn’t say just quite what it was,
Day by day he took his chance,
But no matter what they told him,
What he could be losing
He was always going to see his daughter dance

Sweet Comparison

Written By: Jimmy Anthon

Sweet Comparison.

I’d be happy by myself
Before falling short of what you’ve got,
Comparative
You’re all amazing together.

Stained shoes from hearts squeezed
Left to bleed out on the floor,
Comparative
Both give and getting so much more

(Chorus)
Who couldn’t compare?
We wouldn’t compare,
And so long,
And so long.

Not wishing I was you
So glad that I just knew,
All relative
I’ve got to set the bar to suit.

Fingers crossed that day will come
For my sisters, dad and mum,
All relative
Will see what I see in them.

(chorus)
Who couldn’t compare?
We wouldn’t compare,
And so long,
And so long.

They say you can’t compare to others
But we want girls just like our mothers,
Contradictive
We can pick and choose our lovers.

Don’t stake claims on second best
But don’t hurt souls while you contest,
Contradictive
The very best and nothing less

Whens The Rain Gonna Fall

Written By: Jimmy Anthon

When’s The Rain Gonna Fall.

Empty page writing riddles like I’ve got somewhere else to be,
Cherished thoughts of a life time no one on the chair but me,
Wonder when and if my time will bring me something more than this,
Friends in every town but I’m lonely right now

When’s the rain gonna come
When’s the sun gonna shine
Striving for something in life, that I can call mine
When’s the spring gonna break
When’s the leaves gonna fall
Tired of thinking what’s it for, wanting more

Easel there before me with a canvas right to paint,
No chains wrapped around me, free from all restraint,
With an outlook picture perfect, a memory yet to make,
Still find myself thinking bout all the things at stake.

When’s the rain gonna come
When’s the sun gonna shine
Striving for something in life that I call mine
When’s the spring gonna break
When’s the leaves gonna fall
Tired of thinking what its for wanting more

And I see a portrait of a man proud to be,
Face full of knowledge and a life of luxury,
Resemblance striking of the man they call me,
Wonder if it’s fake or just the way it’s meant to be.

When’s the rain come
When’s the sun gonna shine
Striving for something in life that I can call mine
When’s the spring gonna break
When’s the leaves gonna fall
Tired of thinking what it’s for wanting more

City Lights

Written By: Jimmy Anthon

City Lights

Here’s a little story been happening for sometime now,
Like every bloody song there’s a boy and a girl in a far off town.
Not much too them they’ve got a simple life,
Well it’s the way that it is away from city lights

He had a tough life with no-one to break his fall,
But it was well disguised with money and high stone walls.
What he really needed was a simple life,
So he took off away from those city lights.

(chorus)
Well it’s the way that it is and it’s the way that it goes
Living each minute running down the road,
He thinks to himself that’s where I wanna be,
City lights ain’t for me.

She had an easy life with her parents at beck and call,
She couldn’t compare with reality she’d never of taken a fall, Then one day a long drive really changed her mind
She never looked back towards those city lights.

(chorus)
Well it’s the way that it is and it’s the way that it goes
Living each minute running down the road,
She thinks to herself that’s where I wanna be,
City lights ain’t for me.

As life pans out and time takes its toll
Horizons change and their love will grow
Born apart by chance but drawn close by fate
With an ending like a fairy tale, the way its meant to be,
Country life just you and me

Things You'll Never See

Written By: Jimmy Anthon

THINGS YOU’LL NEVER SEE

Simmer down child,
When the sun comes round you’ll be happy again,
Head off to school and see all your friends,
And when you grow up you’ll understand
That some things in life aren’t worth crying about.

You’ll find it all in things you’ll never see

Slow it down boy you’re running too fast,
The race is long so be sure to last,
Around the corner, there hides your past,
Let it run with you just a memory.

You’ll find it all in things you’ll never see

Speak on up girl, why you shying away,
From the magical things that you’ve seen today,
Got so much to offer stand up and be seen,
Far more beauty than a magazine.

Look up to the sky
Never ask why
You’re the way that you are
Or what’s in line for me
You’ll find all the answers
In things you’ll never see

Elderly man walking in the street,
Listen to the melody of his feet,
So slow but proud and there lie’s the story
Of a life unquestioned and the smile of glory.
