Top 40 Americana artist and GAC Edge of Country" artist, Jimmy Baldwin's cinematic storytelling and technicolor melodies capture the essence of the "New Texas" sound - haunting and melodic, dark and tonic.

Biography

Do you love life? Do you grab life by the horns? Well then, you’re what Jimmy calls a “vivador.” Vivador, the latest
CD from “the Cactus-Headed Troubadour,” truly captures
Baldwin’s uniquely expressive voice and what the
Dallas Morning news calls his “bucket full of paintbrushes
and an extra-wide palette” of Americana music.

Recorded at the historic The Double J Hacienda & Art Ranch, the new CD was co-produced with Clay Pendergrass and
features some of Dallas’ best-known musicians. The album was recorded by Jimi Bowman and mixed by Danny Kadar, known for his work with My Morning Jacket and The Avett Brothers. Grammy® winner Gavin Lurssen (of “O Brother, Where Art Thou?” and Robert Plant and Alison Krauss’s “Raising Sand”) mastered the record. The Jimmy sound is rooted in the Texas singer-songwriter tradition. Born in Western Kentucky and raised in El Paso, Texas, his music is a “Jimmy’d” up brew of the sounds he grew up on – classic country, rock, reggae, and the freestyle sounds of the mariachi street musicians of Juarez. Jimmy’s strong visual writing and storytelling on these eleven brand-new original songs captures the heart. This music can turn anyone into a “vivador.”

Cold, Coal Hear

COLD, COAL HEART

I’m a miner for your cold, coal heart
I’m a miner for your cold, coal heart
I’m a miner for your cold, coal heart
And I know there’s a diamond there
And I know that I’ll find it, yeah
And I know that there’s a diamond
In that cold, black heart
Yea, your cold, coal heart
that cold, coal heart

Don’t know when and don’t know why
She built a mountain around her heart
Granite stone and a mi…le high
A mile high

She buried it so long ago
Kept it hidden way down low
She took no chances she didn’t want it broke
She didn’t want it broke

I’m a miner for your cold, coal heart
I’m a miner for your cold, coal heart
I’m a miner for your cold, coal heart
And I know there’s a diamond there
And I know that I’ll find it, yeah
And I know that there’s a diamond
In that cold, black heart
Yea, your cold, coal heart
that cold, coal heart

Don’t need no shovel don’t need no pick
Don’t care how much I have to dig
I’ll break through I just won’t quit (Oh no)
My love won’t quit

I’m a miner for your cold, coal heart
I’m a miner for your cold, coal heart
I’m a miner for your cold, coal heart
And I know there’s a diamond there
And I know that I’ll find it, yeah
And I know that there’s a diamond
In that cold, black heart
Yea, your cold, coal heart
that cold, coal heart

There’s a diamond, in the cold, coal heart…

River Of Love

RIVER OF LOVE
©JIMMY BALDWIN

Throw your troubles in the river the river of love
Throw your troubles in the river of love
Throw your troubles in the river the river of love
And we’ll watch them all float/away
And we’ll watch them all float/away

Say goodbye to those teardrops goodbye to heartache
Say goodbye to that ol’ heart of pain
No more clouds or rain no more sadness or shame
only true love will/remain

Throw your troubles in the river the river of love
Throw your troubles in the river of love
Throw your troubles in the river the river of love
And we’ll watch them all float/away
And we’ll watch them all float/away

Lets go down to the river/and pitch ‘em all in
We’ll bid them a fond/adieu
We’ll make paper boats/set them a light
launch them on a midnight/blue

Throw your troubles in the river the river of love
Throw your troubles in the river of love
Throw your troubles in the river the river of love
And we’ll watch them all float/away
And we’ll watch them all float/away

Say goodbye to those teardrops/goodbye to heartache
Say goodbye to that ol’ heart of/pain
No more clouds or rain/no more sadness or shame
only true love will/remain

Throw your troubles in the river the river of love
Throw your troubles in the river of love
Throw your troubles in the river the river of love
And we’ll watch them all float/away
And we’ll watch them all float/away
