Bio

Jimmy Barock ain't a historical figure, nor a character from a Flintstones episode. No, absolutely nothing like that. It's just a name for a noisy rockband hailing from the city of Groningen, the Netherlands. Nothing more, nothing less. Just four individuals with a solid dedication to music.

Originally started out as a three piece back in '99, Jimmy Barock always found itself working in its own terms. Never having a bigger plan but making music they felt most comfortable with. Mixing up strong emotional melodies with uncompromised rhythms abd truckloads of dynamics, rockmusic never felt this exciting since they first picked up their instruments. Indierock, noisepop, avantrock... Call it what you want, 'cause it doesn't really matter. You'll just know that Jimmy Barock found its way thru musical adventure, progression and a solid popaesthetic. Fans of Karate, Drive Like Jehu and The Van Pelt surely know where to put them.

So what makes this band so remarkably good? Having seen 'em live could explain a whole lot. Jimmy Barock makes music come alive. That's for sure! Exploring risks, feeding of that restless thing that hides in all of us, these youngsters simply need to feel their music themselves. They could play the best show you've ever seen, or they could scre it all up. In either case, you can tell it's genuine and straight from the heart. And what if things get a bit out of hand? Well, would you really want it any other way?!

For the band, 2005 marks the release of 'We Used To Build Wings At Night'. A six song EP recorded by Corno Zwetsloot (Blues Brother Castro, Spider Rico) and mastered by Zlaya (Sonic Youth, Motorpsycho). The release of these recordings will mark the beginning of the works for the much anticipated debut full-length, due fall 2005. The EP is a preview of Jimmy Barock's renewed line-up in which the band has redefined its aesthetics.

Although the band started it ways into the recording studio, Jimmy Barock already made a strong name for themselves in the Northern European live-circuit. Sharing bills with acts like And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead, Therapy?, Unwound, Icarus Line and Radio 4, the outfit truly comes alive when being on stage. There's simply no other place where it's dynamics come across better than in a live-setting. You'll see.
