On May 29th, head to Buxy’s Salty Dog Saloon in Ocean City to listen to Jimmy Charles. From 9 p.m. to 1 a.m., the American Idol contestant will be performing at the 28th Street Saloon.
Not sure who Jimmy Charles is? You may have heard his music while you were on vacation in Ocean City. Jimmy’s latest song, “Whatever It Takes” plays on our local radio stations.
Jimmy describes himself as playing, “Country, a ‘lil Rock ‘N Roll and a whole ‘lotta soul!”. This soulful, genuine, and passionate Nashville country singer and music writer grew up in the Ocean City area. As a Berlin native, the star is thankful to be playing back at home on the Eastern Shore.
In his song, “I Miss My Maryland”, Jimmy talks about his life on the shores of Maryland and his journey to Nashville. The song mentions things like crabbing, sailing, boating, surfing, water sports, and Orioles baseball.
Jimmy was a Season 9 American Idol contestant who was sent to Hollywood by Simon. After performing on the show he appeared in newspapers, on television shows, and did interviews on the countless radio shows.
After a whirl-wind of shows, Jimmy is thankful to be playing in his home town once again. “I vow to always be true and honest to those who support me. I look to make an amazing connection and bring amazing music to my audience,” says Charles. He will be doing just that on May 29th! His large support group in Ocean City is ecstatic to see him perform at Buxy’s.

Jimmy grew up on the Eastern shore of Maryland where fishing, crabbing, sailing, boating, surfing, sports and of course, playing & writing music (since age 15) occupied most of his time. He spent 6 years in general and select choir. Jimmy graduated from Towson University where he played Linebacker for the Tigers Football team (nicknamed "The Crash" by his teammates for his hard hitting tendencies) and received a Mass Communications degree in 2003. Jimmy moved to Nashville in November of 2008 to fully develop himself as a singer, writer and performer. He was a Season 9 AMERICAN IDOL Hollywood Contestant. He has performed and interviewed live on numerous radio stations, newspapers and televised programming. Also, opened a side stage for Montgomery Gentry, Lady Antebellum, and has performed countless charity events. Signature song, "Whatever It Takes" (Jimmy's motto) is currently getting regular airtime on Delmarvas Froggy 99.9 down the Maryland and Delaware Beach, and received airtime all across the Nation. Named WKDF's Nashville Artist of the Week in 2009 on the Billy Block show. He performed on a regular basis at the World famous Tootsies on Broadway in downtown Nashville, along with many other venues and charities. Jimmy also sings and gives motivational speeches to children in elementary schools encouraging them to chase their dreams! "I vowel to always be true and honest to all those who support me.
