I'm a singer/songwriter. I strive to write lyrically and musically sophisticated, intelligent, heartfelt, jazz-inflected original swing tunes and piano ballads that rewards listeners by expanding what can be expressed in a pop song.

Biography

Born James Patrick Page, "Jimmy James Page" followed the advice of someone at BMI and changed his "professional name" so as not to be confused with Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin who shares the same first, middle and last name. (Could you imagine receiving one of his royalty checks?)

Growing up in New Jersey in the 60s, when radio was much freer, he was in love with the music of both the Beatles and the Temptations. He began piano lessons at a young age, had his first garage band by the age of 12 and was soon playing at school events. At his first public appearance he sang and played "Good Lovin" by the Rascals to a room full of his classmates....and nuns. After graduating college with degrees in history and music, he ditched the law school idea and headed straight for San Francisco where he has been playing music professionally since.

As much as he loves keyboards, it has always been the songs and the singing that matter most to him. Musically, his pop songs combine elements of blues, gospel, jazz and rock. Among his many awards, Jimmy James is a two-time winner of the West Coast Songwriters' “Song of the Year Award”.

Lyrics

Time For Love

Written By: JImmy James Page

I'm rushing out as you're rolling in
You give me a peck on the cheek and a hi how you been
I say the kitchen's a mess 'cause the kids just ate
But I can't talk now you know I'm running late

We leave notes for each other all over our home
We whisper sweet nothings into the phone
And when we're in bed you can bet were asleep
And it feels like a stranger lying next to me

And the clock keeps ticking faster
And the day's never long enough
We need a change of pace a little face to face
It's time to find some time for love

A Carribean cruise might be out of our reach
But let's drive up the coast find a spot near the beach
No penthouse but how 'bout a tent for two
Gotta get back to nature just me and you

CHORUS

Always running down the wrong road
Right past the things that matter most
From dawn till dusk we slave away
Saving... for that rainy day

Now work before pleasure that was my protocol
Till that morning when I watched those twin towers fall
Now every tomorrow teeters on the brink
So get it while you can it might be later than you think

CHORUS

One Heart At A Time

Written By: Jimmy James Page

Mother Theresa Dr. Martin King
Lincoln and Ghandi may their voices ring
All the millions they blessed all the souls they set free
It's a humbling thought for a man like me
Cause these arms of mine could never carry that much
But with these two hands I can reach out and touch

One heart at a time
One little step up the mountain we climb
There's no end to what we can start
One heart at a time

If I had the power I'd put an end to war
If I had the knowledge I would discover a cure
And if I could be judge I'd rule justice for all
So that every man and woman could stand up proud and tall
But if I never get to help so many so much
I can still make a difference if I reach out and touch

CHORUS

I stand with the believers
Yes we can

CHORUS

Where There Is Love

Written By: Jimmy James Page

Red eyes and two broken hearts
The silence is the hardest part
Wouldn't know what to say even if we could speak

And with all the pain’s been raining down
You'd think by now we would have drowned
But we're clinging to this family

I don’t know what we're going to do
But you've got me and I've got you
We'll make it through this somehow (cause)

Where there is love
We don't walk alone
It shines like a lantern
And leads the way home

Where there is love
Together we stand
And when we should stumble
There's always a hand
To help lift us up (to)
Where there is love

The world is sending teddy bears
To the surviving children where
The unspeakable raised its wicked head

And as the school bell echoes down the hollow hall
The playground pines for a bouncing ball
And the churches burn candles for the dead

This tight-knit town we live in
Will never be the same again
But we'll make it through this somehow

Chorus

Interlude

Where there is love
We don't walk alone
It shines like a lantern
And leads the way home

Where there is love
Together we stand
And if you should stumble
Please reach for my hand
And I'll lift you up
And you'll lift me up
We will be lifted up
Where there is love
