Bio

A Texas drawl, an up-yours New York attitude and an affinity for a Merseyside backbeat; this unique hodgepodge is Jimmy Lloyd in a nutshell. He serves up acoustic-based rock Ôn roll that swaggers like the Stones, preaches like the Boss and gets itself into trouble like Kid Rock.

His debut album Corduroy & Chrome is an uncommon (but never awkward) amalgam of influences. Truly, thereÕs equal parts corduroy and chrome all over it Ñ from tender croons and thoughtful chords to violent strums and vocal fisticuffs.

And then there are the lyrics. Chances are youÕve not heard anything like them. Chances are you wonÕt know how to take them on first listen. Chances are there will be a second, third, fourth, fifth listen. You get the picture.

The man behind the songs keeps a low profile. Which makes sense when you consider that these songs do plenty of talking. New York-based more often than not, Jimmy Lloyd holds a microscope up to Middle America before dissecting it as lyrical social commentary. You can say that these are road songs. For no other reason than that most of them were written while Jimmy Lloyd was traveling across the U.S. and around Europe.

A local legend in the Garden State and Downtown Manhattan live music scenes, Jimmy Lloyd would hit area stages in bursts between jaunts and, presumably, jobs. He made waves when a man in a gorilla suit was spotted wandering around Times Square carrying a sign promoting the singer/songwriter. But then he disappeared from the scene again.

His collection of acoustic demos continued to circulate though. Finally, what his cult following has been anticipating for years is a reality. Corduroy & Chrome finds a legend reborn. If he has his way, bigger than ever before.
