Lyrics

If It Were Me

Written By: James Yessian - Kent Gray

If it were me I would have never lasted
Half as long as you my friend
From where I stood I watched your soul turn to ashes
Leaving you a hollow man
Time and again she left you twisting in the wind
She finally pushed you farther than any broken man can bend

CHORUS
If it were me I'd pack my car grab my guitar and go
I’d buy a boat and sail the coast somewhere off Mexico
I’d Fish all day and serenade the stars at night
And set my spirit free that's what I would do if it were me

Since we were kids you and I have been like brothers
And I hate to see that cross you bare
Don't let my words go in one ear and out the other
Cause you and God know I've been there
Not long ago you picked me up when I was down
When a woman left my heart scattered in pieces on the ground

CHORUS
If it were me I’d pack my car grab my guitar and go
I’d buy a boat and sail the coast somewhere off Mexico
I’d fish all day and serenade the stars at night
And set my spirit free that’s what I would do if it were me

Go set you spirit free that’s what I would do if it were me

Except My Guitar

Written By: James Yessian - Kent Gray

Leavin’ and I ain’t lookin’ back
All I own is already packed
Except my guitar
I’m gonna need that

Down the road and around the bend
I pray this highway
Is still my friend
I could use one right now

CHORUS
And there’s no one to blame
I can’t be broken and I won’t be tamed
Am I loosin’ my head to leave this fire and a nice warm bed
God only knows

Was a one in a million chance
She could hold me forever
From the start I knew this romance
Would break somebody’s heart

How did I ever loose my way
All I said was I do one day
But I don’t anymore
That’s all I can say

The whole thing never made much sense
Trapped behind a white picket fence
On a street with a name of a tree
It just wasn’t me

REPEAT CHORUS

The Refinance Song

Written By: James Yessian

THE REFINANCE SONG
Music/Lyrics Jimmy Yessian
c All rights reserved

I got a call from a broker to refinance
He said it was a once in a lifetime chance
I’ve been pre-approved and that’s no lie
I’ll have an answer by tomorrow if I qualify

I said I once had an audit by the IRS
Well he shrugged his shoulders like he didn’t care less
Just fill out these forms and you’re ready to go
There’s just one or two things that we need to know

Chorus 1

Have you any liquid assets do you know your net worth
Name of your spouse and both your dates of birth
The number of your checking and your savings account
Your IRA and your CD’s and the total amount
Did you ever go to college, did you finish high school
Your last ten employees, do you ever carpool
Do you smoke, do you drink, have you ever been in jail
If you take a drug test will you pass or fail

Well I filled out all the forms, didn’t leave a space blank
And my broker sent them over to the Union Bank
When they receive the forms you might get a call
They’ll have one or two more questions and I swear that’s all

Chorus 2

Have you any outstanding loans, credits or debts
Are any of your vehicles paid off yet
Are your credit cards maxed
Pay your mortgage on time
In the black or the red is the bottom line
Are you currently employed, have you ever been divorced
Do you have an explanation for the year that you took off
And in the small print at the bottom of the form
Said default on the loan and we’ll take your first born

Well I filled out all the forms didn’t leave a space blank
And I sent them over to the Union Bank
They said you’ll have an answer in a week or so
But don’t hold your breath, we’ll let you know

Before we go any further here’s a question for you
What’s it gonna cost me if this loan goes through
If it costs too much I’ll have to sell my guitars
Or rent out my garage
Can I have a breakdown of every charge

There’s a credit, an appraisal a recording fee
Points and insurance and the notary
Settlement and closing, don’t forget the escrow
But the actual cost we don’t freakin’ know
They don’t freakin’ know

I got a call from my broker last night late
He said he found a bank with a better rate
Besides the Union Bank denied your loan
Can you fill out all the forms tonight when you get home

Everybody……

(Repeat first two chorus’)

And here’s one question that we didn’t ask before
You better answer now or you’re breakin’ the law
Have you ever had an audit by the IRS
Throw these forms in the garbage if the answer’s yes

Till I Stop Breating

I’VE DANCED ON A CLOUD
CLIMBED EVERY STAR
LICKED ALL THE CRUMBS FROM LIFE’S COOKIE JAR
BUT IT MAKES NO SENSE UNTIL
I FELT YOU BREATHING

YOUR INNOCENT SMILE
STILL CRAZY AND WILD
SHOWED ME THE WORLD THROUGH HE EYES OF A CHILD
I’M AT PEACE WHEN I HOLD YOU NEAR
AND I HEAR YOU BREATHING

I’VE HELD MY BREATH FOR WAY TOO LONG
FINALLY FOUND WHERE MY HEART BELONGS
STILL CAN’T BELIEVE ALL BEAUTIFUL THINGS YOU DO
I KNOW THAT I CAN’T STOP THE RAIN IF THE RAIN STARTS FALLIN’
CAN’T STOP THE YEARS THEY’LL KEEP CALLIN’
NONE OF THAT MATTER TO ME AT ALL
AS LONG AS I’M WITH YOU

EVERYDAY
BRINGS ONE MORE CHANCE
TO HOLD YOU TO ME
PRAY OUR SONG NEVER END
KNOW I LOVE YOU STILL
AND I ALWAYS WILL
PLEASE LET THIS LOVE LAST UNTIL
TILL I STOP BREATHING

I BLEW OUT THE MATCH WHILE HOLDING BACK THE TEARS
AS I LIT THE FIREPLACE FOR THE FIRST TIME THIS YEAR
WHEN THE DAYS GROW SHORTER THERE’S AN OLD FAMILIAR PAIN
FROM THAT PLACE DEEP INSIDE MY HEART THAT WILL NEVER BE THE SAME

CHORUS
THIS TIME OF YEAR WHEN AUTUMN LEAVES HAVE FALLIN’
FROST IN THE AIR SENDS A CHILL RIGHT THROUGH MY SOUL
I MISS YOU SO MUCH I SURRENDER TO THE TEARS
YOUR MEMORY ALWAYS SEEMS TO FIND ME THIS TIME OF YEAR.

DAD’S IN HIS WORK SHOP WHEN THE WINTER MOON HANGS HIGH
WORKIN’ ON THAT OLD FIREBIRD HE TOLD YOU NOT TO BUY
HE’S FIXED T UP REAL NICE IT’S JUST WHAT YOU HAD IN MIND
WHEN HE TAKES HER FOR A DRIVE YOU OUGHTA SEE EM’ FLY

CHORUS
THIS TIME OF YEAR WHEN AUTUMN LEAVES HAVE FALLIN’
FROST IN THE AIR SENDS A CHILL RIGHT THROUGH HIS SOUL
HE MISSES YOU SO MUCH HE SURRENDERS TO THE TEARS
YOUR MEMORY ALWAYS SEEMS TO FIND HIM THIS TIME OF YEAR.

BRIDGE
MOMMA’S UP IN YOUR OLD ROOM LAYING BLANKETS ON YOUR BED
SHE WHISPERS SOFTLY TO HERSELF ONLY YOU KNOW WHAT SHE SAYS

CHORUS
THIS TIME OF YEAR WHEN AUTUMN LEAVES HAVE FALLIN’
FROST IN THE AIR SENDS A CHILL RIGHT THROUGH HER SOUL
SHE MISSES YOU SO MUCH SHE SURRENDERS TO THE TEARS
YOUR MEMORY ALWAYS SEEMS TO FIND HER THIS TIME OF YEAR
YOUR MEMORY ALWAYS SEEMS TO FIND US THIS TIME OF YEAR

Life Time Love Affair

I saw you walking down the hall first day of school
The moment our eyes met that's when I knew
My search was over and we'd make the perfect pair
And if my dreams came true I knew we'd share a lifetime love affair

The perfect day the middle of September folks still say
It was a wedding to remember
Your Daddy forced a smile as he walked you down the isle
And the roses left sweet perfume in the air for a lifetime love affair

Chorus
We laughed and danced and took photographs
And we raised our glasses high
We made a toast to the first time I looked into your eyes
And saw forever there…. a lifetime love affair

There's no way I could have lived without your love babe
And I would say I do again today
if you would have me there's no place I’d rather be
Than wrapped inside your loving arms I swear for a lifetime love affair

Repeat Chorus

A lifetime love affair

I know How She Feels

I KNOW HOW SHE FEELS

IT TOOK ME BY SURPRISE WHEN I SAW HER TODAY
IT STOPPED ME IN MY TRACKS AND TOO MY BREATH AWAY
SHE WAS WRAPPED IN SOMEONE ELSE’S ARMS
IT FELT LIKE A KNIFE RAN THROUGH MY HEART
REMEMBERING HOW SHE ONCE HELD ME THAT WAY.

CHORUS:
I KNOW HOW SHE FEELS
WHEN HE HOLDS HER CLOSE
I KNOW THAT LOOK IN HER EYES
AND HOW DEEP THAT RIVER FLOWS
I DIDN’T KNOW WHAT I HAD
TILL I LET GO OF SOMETHING SO REAL
NOW I’D GIVE ANYTHING TO TRADE PLACES WITH HIM
CAUSE I KNOW HOW SHE FEELS

I SLIPPED INSIDE A SMALL CAFÉ’ SO THEY COULD PASS
THEY LINGERED AS I LONGED TO TOUCH HER THROUGH THE GLASS
I WATCHED THEM AS THEY EMBRACED
THROUGH A REFLECTION OF THE FACE
OF THE FOOL THAT LET HER SLIP RIGHT THROUGH HIS HANDS

CHORUS:
I KNOW HOW SHE FEELS
WHEN HE HOLDS HER CLOSE
I KNOW THAT LOOK IN HER EYES
AND HOW DEEP THAT RIVER FLOWS
I DIDN’T KNOW WHAT I HAD
TILL I LET GO OF SOMETHING SO REAL
NOW I’D GIVE ANYTHING TO TRADE PLACES WITH HIM
CAUSE I KNOW HOW SHE FEELS

BRIDGE
IT’S TEARING ME UP INSIDE
CAUSE NOW SHE’S THE ONE WHO’S LEAVING ME BEHIND

CHORUS:
I KNOW HOW SHE FEELS
WHEN HE HOLDS HER CLOSE
I KNOW THAT LOOK IN HER EYES
AND HOW DEEP THAT RIVER FLOWS
I DIDN’T KNOW WHAT I HAD
TILL I LET GO OF SOMETHING SO REAL
NOW I’D GIVE ANYTHING TO TRADE PLACES WITH HIM
CAUSE I KNOW HOW SHE FEELS

Not Under My Roof

Written By: James Yessian/Dillon Dixon/Tom Gould

Not Under My Roof
All Rights Reserved

Not under me roof that’s what daddy said
When he caught me and my girl sleepin’ in my bed
He said “Son that ain’t no way to learn to love”
And not under my roof will you talk like that
Those kind of words you can’t ever take back in fact
They don’t make you sound so tough
What you choose to do outside this house
Is your own life to figure out
But if trouble finds you, you can always come to me

Chorus
Cause son I wanna' raise you right
Help you keep your dreams in sight
You can talk to me but we won’t fight not under my roof
I know you’re gonna' make mistakes
And learn from the one’s you make
All I have is some advice to take and a couple simple rules
There’s shelter for a man but not a fool
Under my roof

Not under me roof was the look he gave
Waitin’ up for me when I came home late He’d say
“Take that watch and wind it so it works”
Not under me roof will you drink too much
That’s an open wound that you dare not tough
A long line of kin have fallen to that cures
You and I might disagree about what I say and what you think I mean
But this is my house and I’ve got a promise to keep

REPEAT CHORUS

BRIDGE:
Every shingle was a challenge I’d face
Every nail held the truth in place
Dad was there to fix the leaks when it rained
Now the hammer that’s in my hand
Makes it easier to understand
All the lessons from a wiser man when I turn to son and say

Son I wanna' raise you right
Help you keep your dreams in sight
You can talk to me but we won’t fight not under my roof
I know you’re gonna' make mistakes
And learn from the one’s you make
All I have is some advice to take and a couple simple rules
There’s shelter for a man but not a fool
And there’s always love waiting here for you
Under my roof

I drank the water ate the tide
I wiped the tears from my eyes
I kept the dead souls in a single file line
I watched my heart drop through that bloody broken floor

And I been dreaming for a while
To stand on the naked cloud and cry
These wings are too cold to fly
And I’m to blind to ask why I did what I did
To make you wonder to make you scream and make you smile

Were all allergic to our lives
I had too much pride to compromise
And in this silent state of mind
I keep my coffin in my back pocket… yeah

And I been dreaming for a while
To stand on that naked cloud and cry
These wings are too cold to fly
And I’m to blind to ask why I did what I did
To make you wonder, make you scream and make you smile
To make you smile, to make you wonder, make you scream, make you smile

We’re all accustomed to all our broken angry lives
It’s just a replay of yesterday
And I’m so tired of all the hate and greed
My broken ocean pours all over me

And I been dreaming for a while
To stand on the naked cloud and cry
These wings are too cold to fly
And I’m to blind to ask why I did what I did
To make you wonder, make you scream and make you smile
To make you smile, to make you wonder, make you scream, make you smile

LAST NIGHT I ALMOST SLEPT ALL THE WAY THROUGH
THIS TIME I ONLY HAD ONE DREAM ABOUT YOU
I SAW THE MOMENTS THAT FOREVER CHANGED MY LIFE
THE DAY YOU SAID YOU LOVED ME AND WHEN WE SAID GOODBYE

CHORUS
I KNOW YOU’RE GONE
STILL YOUR HEART BEATS WITH MINE
THOUGH OUR SUN HAS SET I CLOSE MY EYES AND FEEL IT SHINE
SOMETIMES I WHISPER YOUR NAME
AND WISH THAT NOTHINGS CHANGED
CAUSE WITHOUT YOU MY LIFE WILL NEVER BE THE SAME

WE BELIEVED OUR LOVE WOULD ESCAPE EVERY STORM
TILL WE SAW THOSE CLOUDS HANGIN’ ON AT OUR DOOR
YOU HELD ME WHEN THE WIND BEGAN TO BLOW
AND IN YOUR ARMS I FOUND THE STRENGTH TO LET YOU GO

REPEAT CHORUS

BRIDGE
YOU SAID RAIN WOULD ONE DAY BRING A RAINBOW
THEN YOU CLOSED YOUR SWEET EYES
AS I KISSED YOUR LIPS ONE LAST TIME
I HEARD YOU WHISPER GOOD BYE

I KNOW YOU’RE GONE
AND I MUST GO ON
MAYBE TIME WILL HELP EASE THE PAIN
BUT WITHOUT YOU
WITHOUT YOU…
WITHOUT YOU…MY LIFE WILL NEVER BE THE SAME

LAST NIGHT I ALMOST SLEPT ALL THE WAY THROUGH
