HE WAS JUST WAKING UP AS THE SNOW FELL DOWN
WHEN A SUDDEN NOISE CAUGHT HIM OFF GUARD
SO HE SAT UP IN BED AND TILTED HIS HEAD
WHAT HE HEARD WAS HIS OWN BEATING HEART
CHRISTMAS DAY WAS HERE SO SOON
IT HAD COME IN THE BLINK OF AN EYE
THREE MONTHS TO THE DAY HIS SON WAS TAKEN AWAY
AND THEY NEVER SAID GOOD BYE

HE PUT ON SOME CAROLS WRAPPED A FEW GIFTS
AND HE SPREAD THEM OUT UNDER THE TREE
HIS SON’S FAVORITE DAY WAS FINALLY AT HAND
AND HE WOULD MAKE IT THE BEST IT COULD BE
A PROMISE HE’D KEEP ON THEIR SPECIAL DAY
BY A FATHER WHO STILL HADN’T CRIED
WHAT HE WAS WAITING FOR HE WASN’T QUITE SURE
MAYBE WAITING TO SAY GOOD BYE

BRIDGE
WHEN HIS ONLY SON WAS TAKEN
HE KNEW HE WOULD HURT FOR A LONG, LONG TIME
ALL THAT HE ASKED, FOR HIS PEACE OF MIND
WAS TO KNOW THAT HIS SON WAS AT THE LORD’S SIDE
SO HE PRAYED FOR A SIGN

THEN IT DROPPED THROUGH THE SLOT OF HIS FRONT DOOR
A LITTLE FADED AND FOLDED IN HALF
IT WAS WRINKLED AND TORN AND IT WAS STILL WARM
LIKE IT WAS HELD IN A LITTLE BOYS HAND
A PICTURE OF HIS SON HE’D NEVER SEEN
AS A RIVER FLOWED FROM HIS EYES
A CHRISTMAS MIRACLE HE HAD TO BELIEVE
A GIFT FROM SOMEWHERE ON HIGH
AND A FATHER AND SON…. SAY GOOD BYE

Baby walks the floor from 2 ta 4 some mornin’s
She wakes me sometimes shakes me without warnin’

But she didn’t know i would be the one
To walk into her life relight her sun
She didn’t know i would be the one to pull her through
somebody knew

She makes me cards from her heart
I’m inundated but i appreciate it
She mends me defends me it’s complicated

She didn’t know i would be the one
To walk into her life relight her sun
She didn’t know i w be the one to save her it’s true
Somebody knew

All alone we sat me and the cat cryin’
Devastated light fadin’ heart dyin’

I didn’t know she would be the one
To walk into my life relight my sun
I didn’t know she would be the who’d save me too
Somebody knew

She didn’t know and i didn’t know
Sometimes that’s just the way this crazy world goes
So don’t you give up someone will come to your rescue
Somebody new

Not a day goes by i don’t cry
I never know when tears will flow
My love is gone i know not why
Not a day goes by i don’t cry

I sing my songs but somethin’s wrong
Every word goes unheard
I can’t get through hard as i try
Not a song goes by i don’t cry

I said “how will i live without you”
You said “you’ll always feel
My love deep inside”
Not a day goes by not a day goes by

Not a day goes by, not a day goes by

I eased my hand into wet sand
Part of me rushed out to sea
And in the wake your eyes still shine
Not a wave goes by i don’t cry

Do i wish i could change the ending
And take a walk with you back in time
Not a day goes by, not a day goes by

Not a day goes by
The brightest star has left my sky
A million tear yet to cry
Not a day goes by not a day goes by

The Refi Song

Got a call from a broker to refinance
Said it was a once in a lifetime chance
Been pre-approved and that’s no lie
We’ll have an answer by tomorrow if we qualify

I said I once had an audit by the IRS
Well he shrugged his shoulders like he didn’t care less
Just fill out these forms and you’re ready to roll
There’s just one or two things that we need to know

Chorus 1

Have you - any liquid assets do you know your net worth
Maiden name of your spouse and both your dates of birth
The number of your checking and your savings account
Your IRA and your CD’s and the total amount
Did you ever go to college, did you finish high school
Your last ten employees, do you ever carpool
Do you smoke, do you drink, have you ever been in jail
If you take a drug test will you pass or fail

So we filled out all the forms didn’t leave a space blank
Our broker sends them over to the Union Bank
When they receive these forms you might get a call
They’ll have one or two more questions and I swear that’s all – yeah right

Chorus 2

Have you any - outstanding loans, credits or debts
Are any of your vehicles paid off yet
Are your credit cards maxed
Pay your mortgage on time
In the black or the red is the bottom line
Are you currently employed, have you ever been divorced
Do you have an explanation for the year that you took off
And in the small print at the bottom of the form
Said default on the loan and we’ll take your first born

We filled out all the forms didn’t leave a space blank
And send them over to the Union Bank
They said you’ll have an answer in a week or so
But don’t hold your breath, we’ll let you know

Before we go any further here’s a question for you
What’s it gonna cost if the loan goes through
If it costs too much I’ll have to sell my guitar
Can I have a breakdown of every charge

There’s a credit, an appraisal a recording fee
Points and insurance and the notary
Settlement and closing, don’t forget the escrow
But the actual cost we don’t freakin’ know
Oh oh oh oh They don’t freakin’ know

Got a call from our broker last night late
He said he found a bank with a better rate
Besides the Union Bank denied your loan
Can you fill out all the forms tonight when you get home

(Repeat first two chorus’)

Tag
And here’s one question that we didn’t ask before
You better answer now or you’re breakin’ the law
Have you ever had an audit by the IRS
Throw these forms in the garbage if the answer’s yes

YOU ARE EVERYTHING
ALL THE JOY AND LOVE LIFE BRINGS YOU BRING
YOU MEAN THE EVERYTHING TO ME
I LOVE YOU SO IN FROM HEAD TO TOE

YOU ARE EVERY WHERE
IN MY EYES AND IN THE AIR I BREATHE
I’D GO ANYWHERE WITH YOU
SO YOU SEE YOU’RE STUCK WITH ME

WHEN I’M AWAY
LONELY HOURS FEEL LIKE DAYS
TILL WE CAN BE
(till we can be together in love with you forever more)
TOGETHER AGAIN MY LOVE
JUST YOU AND ME

YOU MEAN THE EVERYTHING TO ME
LOVE YOU SO AND I THINK YOU KNOW

WHEN I’M AWAY
LONELY HOURS FEEL LIKE DAYS
TILL WE CAN BE
(till we can be together in love with you forever more)
TOGETHER AGAIN MY LOVE JUST YOU AND ME

Lifetime love affair

“Lifetime Love Affair”
All Rights Reserved

I saw you walking down the hall first day of school
The moment our eyes met that's when I knew
My search was over and we'd make the perfect pair
And if my dreams came true I knew we'd share a lifetime love affair

The perfect day the middle of September folks still say
It was a wedding to remember
Your Daddy forced a smile as he walked you down the isle
And the roses left sweet perfume in the air for a lifetime love affair

Chorus
We laughed and danced and took photographs
And we raised our glasses high
We made a toast to the first time I looked into your eyes
And saw forever there…. a lifetime love affair

There's no way I could have lived without your love babe
And I would say I do again today
if you would have me there's no place I’d rather be
Than wrapped inside your loving arms I swear for a lifetime love affair

Repeat Chorus

A lifetime love affair

IN THIS LIFE WE LAUGH WE CRY
SOMETIMES WE GIVE UP
SOMETIMES WE TOUCH THE SKY
THERE’S HOPE THERE’S FEAR
SWEET DREAMS AND NIGHTMARES
BUT THERE’S ONE REASON WERE ALL HERE

IT’S ABOUT LOVE
HOW MUCH WE CARE, IT’S NOT WHAT WE HAVE
IT’S WHAT WE HAVE TO SHARE
IT’S ABOUT TRUST
THE LIVES THAT WE TOUCH
WE ALL BREATHE, WE ALL GRIEVE
EVERY ONE OF US
IT’S SIMPLE ENOUGH, IT’S ABOUT LOVE

WHEN YOU ‘RE BLUE I HURT TOO
I’M SORRY THERE’S SORROWS WE MUST
ALL GO THROUGH
WE’RE ON THIS EARTH BUT WE WON’T BE FOREVER
IT’S NOT HOW FAR AHEAD WE GET
IT’S HOW FAR WE GO TOGETHER

CHORUS

BRIDGE:
PLANT A SEED AND WATCH LOVE GROW
LET THE WHOLE WORLD KNOW WHAT MATTERS MOST

CHORUS – LOVE…
HOW MUCH WE CARE IT’S NOT WHAT WE HAVE IT’S WHAT WE HAVE SO SHARE
IT’S ABOUT TRUST THE LIVES THAT YOU TOUCH
WE ALL BREATHE, WE ALL GRIEVE AND BLEED EVERYONE OF US
IT’S SIMPLE ENOUGH EACH LIFE WE TOUCH
IT’S ABOUT LOVE

The Dolphin Story:
Amy and I first climbed the bluffs above Zuma beach after moving from New York to California some years ago in mid November. Amy said it was the most beautiful spot she’d ever been to. As we sat there, eyes wide open taking in the amazing sights, smells, and sounds from the majestic bluffs, a school of dolphins suddenly appeared playing in the white foam waters below us. Amy smiled with a wall of teeth like a little child who had just opened the very Christmas gift she had been wishing for but didn’t think she’d get. We watched the dolphins swimming, appearing and disappearing in the yankee blue waters. We both laughed with joy as I held her in my arms. All that day she could not stop talking about seeing dolphins in the wild, playing right beneath us.
On November 2nd 2009 at 9:40am, exactly three years to the minute when I lost her to cancer, I returned to those bluffs and freed Amy's ashes back to the sand and sea she loved so much.
First I put my handprint in the wet sand, then placed her ashes in my palm print and watched as the waves rushed over us. I moved up and down the beach repeating this many times. It felt as though Amy and I were together playing in the sand without a care in the world.
I then climbed to the top of the bluffs and buried some of her ashes in a deep hole I’d dug in the sand, along with one of the small Polar Bear figures she had given me and a favorite picture of the two of us. I took the rest of her ashes and let them fly off the bluffs, sailing into the beautiful calling waters. I felt at that moment Amy was finally free and would get to spend eternity in a place she loved.

As I walked back to our '94 Explorer, head down hiding silent tears, a young lady called out and said "Are you watching this"? I said “What"? She pointed below the bluffs where I'd just been. I looked up to see a school of dolphins swimming and playing right where, just minutes before, I'd set Amy free. Her dolphins had returned to escort her on her journey home...

"I eased my hand into wet sand
part of me rushed out to sea
and in the wake her eyes still shine
not a wave goes by I don't cry"

My love for you will never die, Jimmy
