Bio

JIM NOTHING

Jim Nothing is nothing out of the ordinary; rather they are a 5 member
band from the mid-west that thrives on music. Their unique mix of rock
coupled with thought provoking lyrics makes them one of independent
music bands rising to the top.

The rich orchestration of their music provides for an ambient mixture
of sound producing one of the hardest working live shows around. Each
show is full of action, antics and amusement that enthrall audiences in
the southwest. Comprised of five high school friends, each have brought
over 5 years of musical background with various freshman efforts with
other bands.

After 2 years of growing together as a band, they are now venturing out
for regional tours in 2005. Their sophomore release of "The Best
Killers" in 2005 shows their rich diversity as musicians. Justin Lofton is
the lead singer and lyricist. Boyd Gross II, is rhythm guitarist; James
Monroe, bassist; Brett Thomas, lead guitar; and Nathan Sweeney, drummer.
Lofton, an artist in his own right, comprised the nucleus of Jim
Nothing, around an anime character he created. The lifelike personification
of this mythical character comes alive through the music of Jim Nothing.
"Jim Nothing is a dark hero that liberates the captives from oppressive
nations." Lofton reflects.

A first of conceptual bands in the indie/post hardcore genre of modern
music, Jim Nothing grows beyond the page with each performance. "Even
though we all grew up around small towns in the mid-west, we knew we did
not want to be narrow minded as some of our peers seemed to be," Gross
states.

Their teenage angst was channeled into their musical ambitions.
"Personally, I play many other instruments, but with each new instrument
learned my drumming improved," Sweeney says. "When we first formed the band
2 years ago, I knew we had the nucleus of something big," Monroe said.
"Boyd and I normally form the first parts of the song, Nate then adds
his amazing input along with James, and then Justin's lyrics fits the
songs like a well used glove," Thomas shares. The overall combination
from over 5 years of dedicated practice individually makes Jim Nothing a
musical band worth noting.

Their fan base is growing weekly and is very important to Jim Nothing
members. "We want our audiences to walk away from a show knowing they
had been entertained but that the lyrics have moved them in a way never
before realized," Lofton states. "We want to not only communicate with
our fans, we want to get to know them on an individual basis as well,"
Gross says. "We always have fun on the stage but it's just as equally
important for the audience to be having a good time too," Monroe shares.
From the wild antics of Boyd and the intensity of Justin's performance
each show is totally captivating for their fans. "We strive to keep in
constant contact through our newsletters with our fans and let them
know of upcoming special events,"

Thomas says. "I think as a mid-western band there is a concept in
people's minds that captivates them because we aren't mid-west in our
approach to our music, which the fans gravitate towards," Sweeney says.
Nothing is more refreshing or needed now in the indie band genre than Jim
Nothing. As one fan states, "There is nothing better than a Jim Nothing
show...period".
