Jim Woods

I am the product of raps influence on the suburbs. I grew up in Agoura Hills, CA. I listened to rap from age 6 till middle school. I then played jazz trombone. I then started to rap in High School. I moved to Starkville, MS to pursue a college degree and learned there was much more to this world than I could imagine, coming from the suburbs. Jim Woods is outside of me. It represents innocence and the loss of innocence. I use rap music to tell a story of not only myself but of the people I grew up with. I was so concerned with improving rap, but now since rap is a dead genre; this might be the first signs of something post-rap. Something modern to battle the self-centered adult neglect and depression of a youth that should realize they are young.
