Jimy Carter

The son of Jean Joseph and Marie Lavuad, Jimy Carter Joseph was born in CroixdesBouquets, Haiti, in the early 80’s. He was the youngest out of his 4 siblings. His Father moved to NYC before he was born and his mother moved two years later to meet up with his dad. Jimy Carter and his brothers and sister were left with their Grandparents to raise and mold them until he was 5 years old. After 2 years in New York his mother decided to move all four of them to Brooklyn, NY to pursue a safe and better life. In elementary school Jimy Carter encounter with his first challenge, playing the lead role in a musical as Tayzin the Genie fish. The teacher felt he did a good job under pressure so when she decided to do a second play she gave him the leading role for that too. The first artist that really inspired him was LL cool J, even thou he grow up listening to a lot of varieties of music he can remember the first song he heard and video he seen was from LL Cool J for the song around the way girl. It made him start acting, rapping and licking his lips like LL. In High School he team up with one of his friend to make up a hip hop group called black Gambinos. His job was to come up with all the hooks and his friend would come up with all the lyrics. After the group made their first demo tape his friend got locked up. With his friend behind bars he never quit. He decided to go solo, and write his first record called money overseas, with his solo demo on the work he wanted to test his skills so he decided to go around performing at open mics and talent shows. His big opportunity came when a party promoter approach him at an open mic, and ask him if he wanted to open for Wyclef duo group called Product G & B so he did. With 300 hundred plus people at the show he performed his record money overseas, he felt like that was greatest performance he did ever, because the crowd started cheering and singing the chorus by the time he got to the third verse.
