"Akanishi Jin Aims For Simultaneous Release In U.S. & Japan"

On Sunday, Jin Akanishi (26) held a fan club event at Zepp Tokyo, his first public appearance in Japan since leaving KAT-TUN in July. During the event, he talked about his U.S. tour this coming November, as well as his plans for next year. At the moment, he is looking to release his next single simultaneously in the U.S. and Japan.

Akanishi performed a total of 8 songs including "Eternal," which is the leading candidate for the upcoming single. He plans to release that single in Japan in early 2011. Johnny's Jimusho is currently in talks with multiple record labels in the U.S. to negotiate a simultaneous release.

Akanishi is also planning a solo album and a Japan tour, though details have not yet been determined.

During the event, Akanishi did not touch on the subject of his departure from KAT-TUN. At the press conference after the event, he explained that he already made his announcement on his blog, so he felt there was no need to talk about it. However, he acknowledged that his withdrawal from the group was very sudden, so he apologized to the other members for the trouble it caused. At the same time, he said he would like to see both KAT-TUN and himself rise up to a higher level as artists together.

Akanishi stated that he hopes to have Japan as his base for his international activities, and he would like to spread out to Europe and other parts of Asia, in addition to the U.S. - Tokyo News

Bio

Jin Akanishi is a Japanese superstar performer, who entertained over 6,000 fans at his American debut concert in Los Angeles this past June. On the "Yellow Gold Tour 3010", Akanishi will perform a variety of songs in English with back-up dancers on a futuristic stage.

Akanishi, a former lead vocalist for the renowned Japanese pop group KAT-TUN, left the group this summer and is now preparing for the US tour along with working on new material. "I'm thrilled to perform again in the U.S., the ultimate stage for entertainers around the world. With new, original material, I'm ready to introduce my fans to a whole new world of Jin Akanishi. We are working hard to produce a great show for audiences to enjoy, including those who came to my last show in Los Angeles. I'm looking forward to seeing my American fans and making new ones very soon," said Akanishi.

As the former lead vocal in the popular J-pop group KAT-TUN, JIN AKANISHI helped establish numerous records. Their 11 CD singles, 4 CD albums, and 7 DVDs all reached #1 in the Japanese trade magazine Oricon (the Japanese equivalent of Billboard magazine), and in 2009, KAT-TUN became the first musician to perform eight consecutive days at Tokyo Dome, the largest and most prestigious arena in Japan.

In 2009, while still officially a member of KAT-TUN, AKANISHI began his activities as a solo artist upon the release of the film BANDAGE, in which he starred. His first solo CD single, also titled BANDAGE, quickly climbed to the #1 spot on Oricon Magazine and was eventually certified Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of Japan.

Immediately following BANDAGE, AKANISHI delivered 28 solo shows titled "Akanishi Jin Star Live You & Jin", at the historic Nissei Theater throughout February of 2010 in Tokyo. The success of "You & Jin" inspired an overseas performance, leading to "You & Jin U.S.A" in June 2010. AKANISHI became the first solo artist from the renowned Johnny & Associates Agency to perform in the U.S.

After the success of "You & Jin U.S.A", AKANISHI officially announced his pursuit of a solo career. He will continue his activities in Japan, but is also seeking to expand his craft and talents to audiences across the world.
