Bio

Jinx grew up in San Diego with musical influences of 70's country, folk and rock & roll. After deciding college wasn't for him, he moved to Los Angeles for the exciting music scene. He played electric guitar for many bands and artists and went through many styles (rock, punk, blues, pop, and hard rock) and just about as many day jobs. He ran printing presses, moved pianos, drove trucks, ran his own rehearsal studio, worked in construction, and finally moved furniture, a LOT of furniture. Over 350 houses and apartments! After he was laid off from work the 13th time, his friends were calling him "Jinx". The nickname stuck but it was 5 more layoffs before he took some vacation time. Jinx travelled, camped, hiked, and spent some time in Austin, Texas. The only constant companion: his acoustic guitar. It served him well as Jinx started writing his own songs for the first time. Within the artistry of expressing deep emotion through soulful chord changes, Jinx found his voice. "It was by far the most gratifying thing I have ever done," he says. Jinx muses, "at the most critical emotional point in my life I started writing and the floodgates opened, a match made in heaven."

Now a few years down the road, his voice, his show and his songs are hitting their collective stride. You can hear the places he's been in the music. The lonesome sweet sound of the slide Dobro, the sandy, cactus-laden spanish guitar riffs, rocking new twists on the blues, or the beautiful traditional chord changes of the cowboy steel string guitar, all are summoned in the forging of his songwriting style.

The city of San Diego, California also produced great rootsy talents like Jim Croce, The Beat Farmers, and Nickel Creek.
