Jirani

BandR&BReggae

A group with a vast mix of music genre from the Isles and East Africa. Sega, happy African beats, sultry Reggae, pulsating Ska, down to earth Country. Having grown up in the 60s we've got a taste for everything that makes you dance. But alas, no feeling for hard rock, indie, punk, rap - yet.

Biography

Jirani is Kiswahili for neighbour. My album title "HODI" means "knock, knock" - my chance at opening doors. I was born in 1963, in Kenya. My roots are Seychelles, Mauritius and Portugal. I’ve lived in Dublin since 1996 with my wife and three children.
In my early 20s, I joined a band as the lead vocalist. I left the band and later got married in Kenya in 1989. I only started writing songs in 2001, when I decided that I should compose a song for my daughter Rachel who has Cerebral Palsy. With my Casio keyboard I came up with beats that needed lyrics. In early 2003, I invested in a computer from which I now create my music and have slowly gained experience to master/mix my music a bit better.
I started working with country beats and then moved into the latest genre of music. The songs I have uploaded on my EPK are all done at home.
My dream is to be able to be a part of the music industry as a whole, as I strongly believe music brings people together. Being from Africa I believe in lively music with strong percussion which keeps people on their feet.

THINK ABOUT IT (R&B)

This a sad sad story, bout this infatuated boy
He think he found he soulmate, but she be treating him like a toy
Fellows! You ever have a girl she may tasty than fine wine,
but you not too sure if you got she hooked, and it's messing with your mind
Tell them..

Wake early morning she's still fast asleep, wonder if this time she is mine to keep
AHA - Are you sure her love is true? AH AH - Or is she someone else's too? Tell me!
Trying to work can't get her outta my head, just wanna leave and be with her instead
AHA - Did you fir love her from the start? AH AH - So why be giving up your heart? Tell me!

Must be her smile it captured my attention, her body moves dismiss all apprehension
Then she disappears, it brings back all my fears,
Is she playing hard to get or is she messing around ?

It's late at night we both are lazing at home, she gets a message on her telephone
AH AH - Does she read right away ? AHA - And now you stuck for words to say ?
Why don't you just say
Girl is there something wrong, is there anything I should know ?
Do we need to talk it over now, can you stay or you gonna go ?
Oh my, oh why, do I feel this way, can't you help me understand ?
Am I just one of the many guys or am I your only man ? Think about it ...

Must be her smile it captured my attention, her body moves dismiss all apprehension
Then she disappears, it brings back all my fears,
Is she playing hard to get or is she messing around ?

The boy don't want to listen. I'm gonna have to take it straight from the top.
This girl, it seems to me got ya poor boy in a spin,
She be there for some while make yee start to smile before she disappear again
Listen up my friend, can't you understand you're just filling up some lines
In her diary it's so plain to see, it ain't love boy you're doin' time. Think about it ..

Getting some work done when she calls from town, she wants to see me says she's feeling down
AHA - I bet she lost one of her lines! AH AH - That's why you getting double time!
We're making love for the rest of the day, she tells me this time that she's gonna stay
AHA - Open you're eyes you ain't blind! AH AH - That girl fir messing with your mind!

Must be her smile it captured my attention, her body moves dismiss all apprehension
Then she disappears, it brings back all my fears,
Is she playing hard to get or is she messing around ?

The boy under a spell I think, probably don't want to hear too well, might have to take it from the top. Let's go, Come on!
This girl, it seems to me got ya poor boy in a spin,
She be there some a while make yee start to smile before she disappear again
Listen up my friend, can't you understand you're just filling up some lines
In her diary it's so plain to see, it ain't love boy you're doin' time.

It drives me crazy (you're just filling up some lines)
It drives me crazy (it ain't love boy you're doin time)
It drives me crazy (you're just filling up some lines)
It drives me crazy (it ain't love boy you're doin time)
It drives me crazy (you're just filling up some lines)
It drives me crazy (it ain't love boy you're doin time)
It drives me crazy (you're just filling up some lines)
It drives me crazy (it ain't love boy you're doin time)
