"Music Maker Series: The Jir Project Band"

When Native guitars start to sing the people begin to move. That’s something The Jir Project Band’s lead man Jir Anderson (Cochiti Pueblo) has witnessed over and over on his tours across Native America. This month we welcome him as he presents his third musical release. This time he is calling on the place he calls home to set the scene for his heavy rock and blues sound. “The Pueblo” features his ability to glide over the strings of his guitar to electrify listeners. He’ll be live in studio to tell us more about his band and their compositions. Join us for this trip into Native sound with our July Music Maker Jir Anderson. - Native America Calling

Sometimes music can shed some light on our roots. With “SUN CHILD,” the debut album of THE JIR PROJECT BAND, songwriter and guitarist DENNIS “JIR” ANDERSON, JR. (Cochiti Pueblo, NM) juxtaposes blistering guitar leads with heartfelt lyrics inspired by his family and by positive values growing up on an Indian reservation. In the year 2010 the band released their album SUN CHILD - a flawlessly produced catalog of songs that celebrate fatherhoodm the married life and his Cochiti Pueblo heritage. The New Year will be a big one for THE JIR PROJECT BAND with a series of live shows on the horizon and iaccording to the the band they are one of those bands you must see live. The concert experience is full of refreshing guitar tones, colorful stage antics and life stories from premier guitarist JIR ANDERSON. This native brother takes great pride in his Native American upbringing, which is the root to his life philosophies and fuels the music. Add the blend of ERIC OWENS funky bass lines and New Jersey drum beats from BRAD YOBLONSKY and you are ready to enjoy some musical stew. “SUN CHILD” was recently awarded the NORTH AMERICAN INDIGENOUS IMAGE AWARD for OUTSTANDING BLUES/JAZZ ALBUM. - Rockwired.com
