JITTERGOOSE was an idea for a band concieved in Mountain View,Arkansas to combine types of music such as bluegrass,rock,folk,jazz,traditional,etc...
JITTERGOOSE music is groove based with a collection of various standard and non-standard instruments splashed with improvisation.The music transcends all age groups and musical tastes.The band preforms a wide variety of origional music as well as covers ranging from Flatt and Scruggs,Johnny Cash,and Neil Young to the Grateful Dead,Widespread Panic, and Jethro Tull.
In Mountain View,Arkansas in 1998 two members preformed for the first time as JITTERGOOSE @ the Jimmy Driftwood Folk Music Hall Of Fame.Upon returning to the Mississippi/Memphis,Tn. area,they recruited various members to create their unique jam sound.The band has developed their sound and engaged in writing original songs,three of which are included on their debut c.d. released february 2006.
JITTERGOOSE is a comitted band concerned with touring and getting their unique sound to those unique souls.They are able to blend in at bluegrass festivals as well as the blues,rock,and jam band scene.The music crosses boundries to bring a blend of fresh new music with a surprise around every musical corner.
Bruce grew up on ch. 9 WTVA MORNIN' show with "Buddy and Kay Bain" in Tupelo,Ms.,preformed with Merle "RED" Taylor of Bill Monroes Bluegrass Boys,John Hartford,Hank Snow,and Faith Hill(early years).Bruce also was a founding member of "Campus Country"and the"Grasswagon Boys" of Northeast Mississippi Community College.
David Stevens has preformed with the "Smokehouse Band" and civil war group "Lost Cause". He has also appeared in film,"Gettysburg","Andersonville",and most recently "Walk The Line".
David Reader has a background in gospel,rock,and country including preforming with the "Joyful Sounds" and the "Freemans".
Lee Stafford has played various types of music since he was young.Some of the preformers he has played with include-Paul Wood from John Lee Hookers band,Bobby Freeman,and has appeared on stage with Bonnie Raitt and also Jerry Lee Lewis.
Joel Smith has been in several blues/rock/jazz bands including"Black Cat Bone" and "Sweet Tea Jubilee".He also has opened for"Lone Star" and"Bad Company".............oh,and he touched Buddy Guy.
Greg Derrick has preformed with a variety of bands mostly rock and country.
