Bio

Jive Creek Ramblers is a three-piece acoustic group based in Cincinnati , OH . Three veteran performers blend a wide range of covers and originals, using unique arrangements and instrumentation to create a one-of-a-kind musical experience. Formed in 2008, the Ramblers fused a mix of folk rock and reggae to create their signature sound, which breathes new life into their eclectic covers. A typical set includes blues, classic rock, bluegrass, and country covers, as well as original material. In 2009 the group released a self-produced debut CD 'Jive Creek Ramblers' and is currently working on material for a follow-up.

An evening with JCR is full wit and audience participation, and requests are highly encouraged at all performances. The band is available for private and public performances alike and has played everything from community centers to bars to wedding receptions. (We even played a wedding reception inside a bar. Now how versatile is that?) The band will travel to any venue and plays regularly in Ohio , Kentucky , and West Virginia as well as an annual fall southern tour which culminates by tradition in Oxford , Alabama .

Band Bios:

Allen Talbott is a proud native of Elkins, WV, where he began his musical education at age 6. He is a versatile and experienced musician who is comfortable in many styles and genres. After finishing a BA in Theatre at Davis and Elkins College, Allen moved to the Cincinnati area in 2001 to work full-time as a musician and actor. He has been seen throughout the tri-state region with the Shadowbox House Band and party favorites Dangerous Jim and The Slims. Along with Jive Creek Ramblers, Allen currently performs with Lucky and The Magic and Frequency. Despite his busy show schedule, Allen is also a full-time guitar tech for BC Rich/Michael Kelly guitars.

Trying to summarize Casey Campbell's musical influences is like being asked,"Tell me every song you've ever heard." A native of Birmingham, Alabama, Casey spent early life surrounded by the golden oldies of the '50s, the harmony-laden country of the '70s, and a capella gospel hymns sung in church every Sunday. As life moved on, jazz and funk laid the base for an explosion of music, from weary Delta blues and folk to the sonic haze of jam bands and psychedelia. The jokes are free when the Ramblers play, and when Casey's on the mic, you're bound to hear a few.

Mark Slack has been playing percussion instruments his entire life. After graduating from the University of VA in 1996, Slack migrated to Ohio and has worked regionally as an actor and musician ever since. Rather than using a typical drum set, Slack favors conga, bongo, and the Peruvian cajon box drum, which helps anchor the 'roots' feel of the Jive Creek sound. His sense of humor and unique approach to rhythm makes him as much fun to watch as he is to hear.
